Valbona Castle - Padua

I had been wanting to visit this castle for a while, which is about 30 km from my house, and I had often passed by these parts and observed it from the outside but I had never had the opportunity to visit it inside and I must say that it was truly a wonderful surprise.

The Valbona Castle is located at the foot of Mount Lozzo in the Euganean Hills and was mainly born as a military garrison and customs house because it is located right at the crossroads of three provinces, in a truly strategic point. But the thing that surprised me is that I found that it is one of the best preserved castles in the whole area and even if it has been modified over time like many castles, let's say that the fourteenth-century structure is still clearly visible.

practically yesterday you could visit it for free, because it was the national day of historic homes, this association organizes this day every year to let people know about the work that the associations do but above all about these homes which are very beautiful and which in many cases are not accessible to the public, I took the opportunity to visit it, and this visit was also supported by some students from the tourist schools which are located nearby who acted as a bit of a guide for us.

I went up into the walkways. In fact, you can go all the way around the walkways where the guards used to walk, because they were restored several years ago and above all you can go up to the keep through certain paths that are almost tunnels, from where there is a beautiful view of both the Euganean Hills and the whole surrounding plain. You can really see from far away.

This has always been a conquering castle. In fact, it has changed hands several times but for some time now it has become a tavern and also a renowned restaurant. In fact, when I visited it, it was practically preparing for a wedding, which I then saw in part. In short, the location is very beautiful and it is certainly a suitable place for a wedding or a romantic event. So I definitely recommend it.
