(edited)

Hello friends, I am very happy to start telling you about my trip to Turin, and I will tell you about it in various episodes because there are many interesting things to see in these important Italian cities, but in my opinion it is very underrated from a tourist point of view and instead it is definitely worth discovering and going on a trip there.
The best way to get to Turin is definitely by train, in fact it took me about two hours from Verona with a Trenitalia Frecciarossa. I arrived in Turin, and after having bought the Torino card, which is basically a card that is valid for a certain number of hours and gives you the possibility to visit all the monuments for free, I had already booked entry to the Egyptian museum, which I remember is the second most important museum in the world as far as Egyptology is concerned, so it is definitely a museum not to be missed.

the entrance ticket would be €18, but as I was telling you I bought the 72-hour Torino card at a cost of €44, this certainly gives me the opportunity to save money also because my intention was already to visit several museums in Turin, it was really exciting to enter this place, in reality it was a dream that I had been waiting for for a long time also because there is an enormous quantity of finds and collections that cover more than 4 million years of history and the beautiful thing is that all this is housed inside a 17th century building which is the building of the Academy of Sciences and today it is certainly one of the most visited museums in the world.

The first part of the museum was created around 1750 precisely because Italy but also Europe were experiencing the fashion of Egyptomania and therefore there were various excavation campaigns underway but the one who brought the most finds to the museum was the Piedmontese Bernardino Drovetti who was the French consul, and thanks to him state collections and sarcophagi, papyrus, mummies and many pieces arrived in Italy which are still preserved here in the museum.

Since 2004, the management of the museum has been entrusted to a public-private foundation and thanks to this choice, the museum has grown a lot and the exhibition of finds has also changed a lot. In fact, I found it very accurate and precise, but among other things, different technologies have also been used to make the history and where these finds come from clearly understood.

I won't hide from you that the part that struck and moved me the most was undoubtedly the gallery of the kings, a beautiful scenographic room, where the pharaoh was accompanied by deities including Ramses II and the goddess Sekhmet.

Walking through this room you are truly speechless, seeing these enormous, very particular statues still well preserved after thousands of years, just think that to visit this entire museum it took me almost four hours and the positive thing that I found is that they give you the audio guide for free which can be downloaded to your cell phone, in fact thanks to this service I understood better the various finds and the history of this museum.

In conclusion, I can say that this is a stop not to be missed if you visit the city of Turin, as I was telling you the cost is not excessive and in fact it is worth the price of the ticket, but above all I will show you in another next post another interesting thing that you can visit in the Egyptian museum completely free of charge which is the rock temple of Ellesija.
