one of the most evocative medieval villages in Friuli

In the last few days I haven't been able to make any new posts, because I had a lot to do at work, but this last weekend I went to visit an aunt of mine who lives in Friuli Venezia Giulia and I stopped almost by chance. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful villages is the Borgo di Valvasone, and I had the opportunity, almost by chance, but every now and then it's necessary, to visit its castle.

The castle has medieval origins like many castles in the area, it is always something architectural that fascinates me a lot, in fact when I go around I try to go and see some castle, this one is linked to the family of the counts of Valvason, located right on the Tagliamento river which is one of the most important rivers in Friuli - where it was certainly a military and control route for trade.

It's beautiful because this place, which was initially a simple castle, was then expanded and embellished with rooms with frescoes, dignified frescoes and coats of arms. In short, real reception rooms. It's a bit of an evolution that happened to several castles in Italy, which from a simple military manor became almost a villa in all respects.

Unfortunately, this castle suffered devastating damage during the 1976 earthquake, but fortunately, as in many cases, it was recovered and restored with great attention to conservation, maintaining the original layout of the Castle.

to visit this castle you can only do so when they organize guided tours, it does not work like a typical museum which has pre-established times and is practically always open, in fact below I will leave you some websites and some telephone numbers that you can contact to organize your visit visits that mostly take place on weekends, I basically paid a ticket of around 6 euros + €5 for the guide, and it was a very interesting visit and I always think that the guide enriches and also explains a little about what you see.

I hope that this discovery of mine has been a nice discovery for you too and I hope that you can visit this place as soon as possible. I wish you all a nice day.
