Lonigo and its wonders

Hello friends, in this post I want to give you a piece of tourist advice, if by chance you visit Italy in this period or in the next one, there are many places probably less touristy and less famous but which in my opinion are worth visiting, one of these is Lonigo, a city located in the province of Vicenza and which hides many treasures within it.

Meanwhile it has maintained its historical structure, a city truly rich in history, and then there are churches that are marvelous, there are still ancient buildings that are truly beautiful to admire, and I often come here just to walk to admire these beauties.

For the first time, I was able to admire the old church of Lonigo, which is located practically in the center in Piazza Matteotti, and I had always seen it from the outside but I had never had time to visit it inside and I must say that it is very beautiful. Also because it is a church from the 1500s even if it was then expanded over the centuries, I remained because it is rich in many decorations, and then over time it was a bit abandoned even if now it is still used because then the larger church was built which unfortunately is always closed.

In this city, you can also admire the Torrione which is located near the new church, a part of the city walls that protected the city from invasions. Among other things, if you come on the weekend you can climb up this tower to admire the panorama of the whole of Lonigo from above. It is always a beautiful thing because it is always nice to see a city from above.

then, a great discovery that I made right there, is that Lonigo was the birthplace of an important painter, Ridolfi, perhaps you will have seen something of him in Venice, because in fact he then moved there and died right there, let's say he was a great painter of the 1500s. In fact he also wrote a book on the lives of the various painters who were there at the time.

In the end, my walk ended in the hippodrome park, one of the largest parks in the area but above all a beautiful green lung that is located near this city, and this place hosts the horse fair every year but above all it was used to race horses once, now it has become a beautiful city park.
