During my journey through Montenegro, I had the opportunity to spend three days and two nights at the famous Ostrog Monastery. It was much more than a tourist visit. It became an experience filled with peace, prayer, nature, and spiritual strength.
The first moment I saw Ostrog carved into the massive mountain cliff, I understood why this place leaves such a strong impression on everyone who visits it.

When we arrived, everything was calm and quiet. There were only a few people around the monastery, and the silence between the rocks created a very special atmosphere.

The white walls of the monastery against the enormous cliffs looked almost unreal, as if the monastery had become part of the mountain itself.
The next morning, before larger crowds arrived, I explored the paths and nature around Ostrog. Walking through the forest and rocky trails brought a feeling of freedom and inner peace.

Standing beneath those giant cliffs made me realize how powerful nature can be, while at the same time giving me a feeling of calmness and gratitude.

One of the most meaningful places for me was the mosaic showing the Dormition of Saint Basil of Ostrog.
According to tradition, this is the exact place where Saint Basil passed away. What makes this place even more special is the vine that miraculously grew directly from the rock after his death. Even after more than 300 years, the vine still grows from the stone near the monastery.
For many believers, this vine is a symbol of faith, hope, and spiritual renewal.

During the second day in the afternoon, the atmosphere completely changed. More and more pilgrims started arriving from different places. Soon the monastery became full of people.
There was no more room inside the monastery accommodation, so many pilgrims spent the night sleeping outside in the monastery courtyard under the open sky.

Even with so many people, the atmosphere remained peaceful. Some people prayed quietly, some rested, and others simply sat in silence looking toward the illuminated monastery.
The most emotional moment came on the third day during the liturgy. Hundreds of people gathered together in prayer beneath the cliffs of Ostrog.

At that moment, surrounded by mountains, prayer, and silence, I truly understood why Ostrog is one of the most important spiritual places in the Balkans.
This journey gave me memories that will stay with me forever.
Ostrog is not only a monastery.
It is a place where nature, faith, and peace become one.

STOPThe location of the monastery is quite unique. The place feels very solemn and peaceful.
One feels great peace and joy there. The feeling cannot be described in words
Sveto predivno mesto. Imali smo prilike da spavamo pod vedrim nebom na Ostrogu pre par godina, hvala Gospodu Bogu! ❤️
Ja sam jednu noć spavao napolju a drugu noć u konaku.
