Istanbul-Büyükada trip / İstanbul-Büyükada gezisi 🏝️

Hello, everyone.
I hope you are well and everything is going smoothly. In mid-September, my wife and I took a day trip to Büyükada. We had actually planned this trip much earlier, but work commitments and trips to Ordu and my hometown during the summer caused us to postpone it.
Since it was September, the weather was neither too cold nor too hot. Therefore, I think we chose the best time to go.

Umarım iyisinizdir ve her şey yolundadır. Eylül ayının ortalarında eşimle birlikte Büyükada’ya günü birlik geziye gitmiştik. Aslında bu geziyi çok daha öncesinden planlıyorduk ancak iş yoğunluğu, yaz ayında Ordu’ya ve memleketime gitmemiz ertelememize sebep olmuştu.
Eylül ayı olmasından dolayı havalar ne soğuktu ne de sıcaktı. Dolayısıyla en güzel zamanı seçtiğimizi düşünüyorum.

I had been to the islands in Istanbul before, but since my wife hadn't been and was very curious, we went with her too. As for transportation, we use the Kadıköy pier. We check the ferry schedule online and leave home accordingly. After boarding the ferry, we arrived at Büyükada after an hour-long journey.

İstanbul’daki adalara ben daha önce gitmiştim ancak eşim gitmediği için ve de çok merak ettiği için onunla da gitmiş olduk. Ulaşım konusuna gelirsek, biz Kadıköy iskelesini kullanıyoruz. İnternet’ten vapur saatlerine bakıp evden ona göre çıkıyoruz. Vapura bindikten sonra bir saatlik yolculuğun ardından Büyükada’ya ulaşmış olduk.

We planned our route before starting the trip. To be honest, I didn't expect it to be this crowded. As you can see in the photos, the street was packed from end to end. It wasn't this crowded when I came last year, even though it was summer.

Geziye başlamadan önce rotamızı oluşturduk. Ben açıkçası bu kadar kalabalık olacağını tahmin etmiyordum. Fotoğraflarda gördüğünüz üzere cadde boydan boya doluydu. Geçtiğimiz sene geldiğimde bu kadar kalabalık değildi üstelik yaz mevsimi olmasına rağmen.

While walking down a busy street, we bought one of Büyükada's famous, colorful sodas and continued on our way. Our first stop was the mosque, known for its view. It was quite impressive, both architecturally and in terms of its sea view.
I want to make a point here. When people think of islands, they imagine places where life doesn't exist, places we see on the internet and social media, but there is normal life here. When I first came here last year, I imagined it would be deserted. 😅

İşlek bir caddeden yürürken Büyükada’nın meşhur, rengarenk sodalarından alıp yürümeye devam ettik. İlk uğrak noktamız manzarasıyla bilinen cami oldu. Hem mimari açıdan hem de deniz manzarası yönünden oldukça etkileyiciydi.
Burada parantez açmak istediğim bir husus var. Ada denilince akıllara yaşamın olmadığı, internette, sosyal medyalarda karşımıza çıkan yerler gelse de burada normal yaşam var. Geçen sene buralara ilk geldiğimde terk edilmiş yerler diye hayal ediyordum. 😅

After leaving the mosque, we walked to Mizzi's mansion. This area was much quieter and more peaceful than the center. To be honest, walking there, I felt like I was in paradise. :))
From what I had seen on social media, I thought Mizzi's mansion would be much larger, but it was the size of a normal house. Of course, that doesn't mean I didn't like it. Its unique architectural design and the view were amazing.

Camiden ayrıldıktan sonra Mizzi köşküne yürüdük. Buralar merkeze çok daha sakin ve sessizdi. Yürürken açıkçası kendimi cennette hissettim. :))
Sosyal medyadan gördüğüm kadarıyla Mizzi köşkünü çok daha büyük diye düşünüyordum ancak normal bir ev büyüklüğündeydi. Tabi bu beğenmediğim anlamına gelmiyor. Kendine has mimari yapısı, manzarası harikaydı.

After taking lots of photos at the Mizzi mansion, we continued walking through the side streets. The colorful flowers in front of almost every house and building made the island even more beautiful. My husband took photos of almost every place he saw. 😅
In addition, the historic houses are worth seeing. I'm sure they all have their own stories.

Mizzi köşkünde bol bol fotoğraf çektikten sonra ara sokaklardan yürümeye devam ettik. Hemen hemen her evin, binanın önünde bulunan rengarenk çiçekler adayı daha da güzel bir hale getiriyordu. Eşim nerdeyse gördüğü her yerin fotoğrafını çekti. 😅
Bunun yanında tarihi evlerde görülmeye değer. Eminim hepsinin ayrı ayrı hikayesi vardır.

As we continued our trip, a shop on the right side of the road caught our eye. The products displayed outside practically beckoned us. At my wife's insistence, we went inside and bought some items that caught our attention. The prices were much more reasonable than I had expected. Although I felt like I was in a hardware store when I went inside, there were many products that reminded me of antique pieces, mostly handmade items.

Geziye devam ederken yolun sağında bir dükkan gözümüze ilişti. Dış kısmında bulunan ürünler adeta bizi çağırdı. Eşimin ısrarı üzerine içeriye girip dikkatimizi çeken bazı ürünler aldık. Fiyatları beklediğimin aksine çok daha uygundu. İçeri girince kendimi hırdavatçı dükkanında gibi hissetsemde daha çok el işçiliği ile yapılan ürünler, antika eserleri çağrıştıran çeşitli birçok ürün bulunuyordu.

Not only houses and streets, but also businesses, cafes, and ice cream shops were very interesting. The exteriors of restaurants and cafes in particular were decorated in interesting ways to attract customers. Such places caught my wife's attention more, and she was very happy.

Sadece evler, sokaklar değil aynı zamanda işletmeler, kafeler, dondurmacılarda çok ilgi çekiciydi. Özellikle restoranların ve kafelerin dış kısmı müşteri çekebilmek için ilginç şekillerde süslenmişti. Böyle şeyler eşimin daha çok ilgisini çekiyor o çok mutlu olmuştu.

Finally, we spent some time near the clock tower and the pier. The photo of the clock tower you see in the picture is very precious to me. It was quite difficult to take the photo because it was so crowded around, so I will never forget this moment, which is why it is so precious. 🙂
I don't think you can come to Büyükada and leave without trying the ice cream. I can honestly say it was one of the best ice creams I've ever had in my life. Plus, the ice cream vendor put on a great show for me. 🙂

Son olarak saat kulesi ve iskeleye yakın yerlerde vakit geçirdik. Fotoğrafta gördüğünüz saat kulesinin fotoğrafı benim için çok kıymetli. Etrafı çok kalabalık olduğu için fotoğraf çekmeye baya zorlanmıştım, bu anımı hiç unutmuyorum bu yüzden kıymetli. 🙂
Büyükada’ya gelipte dondurmasını yemeden gitmez sanırım olmaz. Gerçekten hayatımda yediğim en güzel dondurmalardan biriydi diyebilirim. Üstelik dondurmacı bana güzelde bir şov yaptı. 🙂

We spent about 2.5 hours on the island. If the ferry time hadn't been so close, we would have had coffee on the sand, but I could only take a photo of it. Coffee will have to wait for another time.
It was a beautiful, fun day. We took lots of photos both on the ferry and on the island.

Yaklaşık olarak adada 2.5 saat geçirdik. Vapur saati yakın olmasaydı kumda kahve içecektik ama sadece fotoğrafını çekebildim. Kahve de artık başka zamana.
Güzel, eğlenceli bir gündü. Hem vapurda hem de adada bol bol fotoğraf çektik.
