From Ümraniye to Eminönü

Hello everyone, I hope you are well and everything is going smoothly. A few months ago, my wife and I visited Üsküdar and Eminönü. As I mentioned before, I live in Ümraniye. Sometimes I forget that I live in Istanbul. The reason is work pressure and the weather. Whenever this occurs to me, if the weather is suitable, my wife and I go out in our free time.

Herkese merhaba, umarım iyisinizdir ve her şey yolundadır. Birkaç ay önce eşimle birlikte Üsküdar ve Eminönü taraflarını gezmiştik. Daha önce söylediğim gibi Ümraniye’de oturuyorum. Bazen İstanbul’da yaşadığımı unutabiliyorum. Sebebi ise iş yoğunluğu ve havaların etkisi. Bu durum aklıma geldikçe havalar müsait olursa boş vakitlerimizde eşimle dışarı çıkıyoruz.

After a nice breakfast, we took the subway and headed to Üsküdar, finding ourselves in the midst of a crowd. Instead of crossing over to the European side right away, we took a short walk to enjoy the sea air. As we walked along the shore, Istanbul's classic scenery accompanied us. As you can see in the photos, fishermen were spread out along the shore. I've shared countless similar scenes, both on social media and here.

Güzel bir kahvaltının ardından metroyu geçtik ve Üsküdar’a yol aldık ve kendimizi kalabalığın içerisinde bulduk. Hemen karşıya, Avrupa tarafına geçmek yerine deniz havası almak için biraz yürüyüş yaptık. Sahil boyunca yürüdükçe İstanbul’un klasik manzarası bize eşlik etti. Fotoğraflarlarda da gördüğünüz üzere balıkçılar sahil boyunca uzanmıştı. Sosyal medyada olsun burada olsun sayısızca benzer manzaralar paylaştım.

After a while, we boarded the ferry and crossed over to Eminönü. As soon as I boarded the ferry, my eyes immediately searched for an empty seat by the window. 😅
The ferry ride is one of the moments that makes me feel most like I'm living in Istanbul. So, even if it's short, I really love those moments. The sound of the ferry's engine, the seagulls waiting for simit, etc.
As I watch outside the window, a sense of peace fills my heart.

Bir müddet sonra vapura binip Eminönü’ne geçmiştik. Vapura biner binmez gözlerim ilk olarak cam kenarında boş bir koltuk arıyor. 😅
Vapur yolculuğu İstanbul’da yaşadığımı en çok hissettiren anlardan birisi. Dolayısıyla kısa da olsa o anları çok seviyorum. Vapuran gelen motor sesi, simit bekleyen martılar vs.
Camdan dışarıyı izlerken içimi huzur kaplıyor.

When we set foot in Eminönü, a different atmosphere greeted us compared to Üsküdar. The strong smell of fish, the scent of spices, etc. Our first stop was to explore the historic buildings, and then we went to the New Mosque.
I had passed by this mosque many times before, but I had never seen the inside. My wife and I had the opportunity to explore it together.

Eminönü’ne ayak bastığımızda ise Üsküdar’dan farklı bir atmosfer bizi karşılıyor. Yoğun balık kokusu, baharat kokuları vs. İlk durak olarak tarihi binaların olduğu yerleri gezip ardından Yeni Camiye gittik.
Daha önce bu caminin yakınlarından birçok kez geçtim ancak iç kısmını hiç görmemiştim. Eşimle birlikte gezme imkanımız oldu.

When you enter the courtyard of the mosque, the crowds and noise suddenly disappear. It is impossible not to be impressed by the domes, motifs, and decorations inside the mosque. After touring the interior of the mosque, we headed back to the pier through the historic streets. At this point, I couldn't resist taking a photo of a crow, accustomed to people, witnessing the historic scenery. 😄

Caminin avlusuna girdiğinizde kalabalık ve sesler bir anda kesiliyor. Caminin içindeki kubbeleri, motifleri, süslemeleri görüpte etkilenmemek mümkün değil. Caminin iç kısmınıda gezdikten sonra tekrar tarihi sokakların arasından iskeleye yöneldik. Bu esnada tarihi manzaralara tanıklık eden, insanlara alışmış bir karganın fotoğrafını çekmekten kendimi alıkoyamadım. 😄

We boarded the ferry again and headed to Üsküdar. It was a bit more crowded since it was evening. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a seat by the window on the way back. 😅
When we got home, I felt quite tired, but it was a very enjoyable day for me. Thank you very much for reading, see you soon.

Tekrar vapura binip Üsküdar’a seyir haline geçtik. Akşam vakitleri olduğu biraz daha kalabalıktı. Dönüşte maalesef cam kenarından yer bulamadım. 😅
