An unplanned walk along the beach that turned out to be a relaxing and pleasant visit (Eng - Esp)
Unplanned outings and visits often turn out to be the most fun and enjoyable. While running an errand in the area with my son, we decided to take a walk along the beach. The sun wasn't too harsh, and the breeze was perfect for gazing at the sea and strolling along the shore. Going to the beach hadn't been in our plans at all, but we got off at the wrong stop and could see the beach from there; without overthinking it, we headed over. We walked, sat on the rocks, and enjoyed the breeze, feeling the occasional spray of water on our skin. It was our second time visiting this part of the city, and the experience was very different from the first. On that earlier visit, we went in the late afternoon—after 5:30—whereas this time it was around 4:00 PM. Although the sun can be relentless at that hour, perhaps due to the previous day's rain and the morning's humidity, the temperature was pleasant—perfect for exploring and walking along this stretch of the beach.
We began our walk at the church on the corner and crossed the avenue, where I noticed—for the first time—a wall situated on the traffic island. It was made of rock and concrete, and it appeared to have once held an identification sign or some other marker, given the small pipes located at one end. I was surprised to see this wall, as I hadn't noticed it during my first visit—perhaps because I had been focused on other elements of the beautiful landscape this part of the city offers. Our walk centered on closely observing the waves, the sky, and a few fish that ventured near the shore and became trapped among the rocks. As always, friendly crabs were scuttling across the rocks, though this time we chose to ignore them completely. I’ve come to think these little guys have a radar for detecting humans; the moment we get close, they dash away at high speed, making it impossible to photograph them—which is why we ignored them on this occasion. As we walked, whenever we spotted one on the rocks, we would step back instead of approaching, so as not to interrupt its path. This allowed us to observe them from a distance; they would stay on the rocks for several minutes, then move on and rest, continuing their journey in this way.
Las salidas y visitas que no planificamos, suelen en muchas ocasiones resultar las más divertidas y las que más se disfrutan, mientras realizaba una diligencia por el sector Caigüire, en compañía de mi hijo decidimos hacer un recorrido por la playa, el sol no estaba muy fuerte y la brisa era perfecta para observar el mar y caminar por la orilla, ni en lo más remoto estaba en nuestros planes ir a la playa, pero nos quedamos en la parada equivocada y desde allí se veía la playa, sin pensarlo mucho avanzamos hasta allá, caminamos nos sentamos en las rocas, disfrutamos la brisa y en muchas oportunidades las gotas de agua cayeron en nuestra piel; es la segunda vez que vamos a esta zona de la ciudad y fue una experiencia muy diferente a la anterior, la primera vez fuimos al caer la tarde, después de las 5:30 y en esta ocasión eran aproximadamente las 4 PM, aunque a esa hora el sol suele ser inclemente, tal vez por el día lluvioso anterior y húmedo en la mañana, la temperatura era agradable y perfecta para recorrer y caminar esta parte de la playa.
Desde la iglesia ubicada en la esquina, iniciamos nuestro recorrido cruzamos la avenida y vi por primera vez un muro que está ubicado en la isla, el muro está formado por rocas y concreto y al parecer en él había una valla de identificación o tal vez alguna señalización, porque hay pequeños tubos ubicados en uno de los extremos, me sorprendió ver este muro no lo vi en mi primera visita, tal vez porque estaba concentrada en observar otros elementos del hermoso paisaje, que ofrece este sector de la ciudad, nuestro recorrido se enfocó en contemplar detenidamente el oleaje, el cielo y algunos peces que se acercaban a la orilla y quedaban atrapados entre las rocas; como siempre los simpáticos cangrejos andaban por las rocas pero en esta ocasión decidimos ignorarlos por completo, he llegado a pensar que estos amigos tienen un radar para detectar la presencia de los humanos, porque apenas nos acercamos corren a gran velocidad, lo cual nos impide fotografiarlos por ello en esta oportunidad los ignoramos, hicimos el recorrido y cuando veíamos alguno por las rocas en lugar de acercarnos, nos alejábamos para no interrumpir su recorrido, de esta forma pudimos observarlos a la distancia, se quedaban varios minutos en las rocas luego se movilizan, descansan y así hacen su recorrido.
After a leisurely walk along the shore—watching the waves and spotting a few birds—we headed toward a small, rock-surrounded pier. Here, the water crashed hard against the rocks, creating a fine spray; we also noticed the breeze was much stronger at this spot—the gust was even strong enough to knock the clip right out of my hair. Crabs, fish, and other marine creatures hide among these rocks, just as they do elsewhere along the shore. To avoid the mist from the crashing waves, we stayed toward the center, near the white boat.
You could see the intensity of the waves and the force with which they struck the rocks. This area serves as a sort of earthen walkway where fishermen embark and disembark when returning with their catch. The view of the sea is lovely, and—quite by accident—I managed to photograph some birds. I hadn't even noticed them while taking the pictures, but I was thrilled when I checked my phone and saw the shots; like crabs, they are elusive and move incredibly fast—often darting away before the camera can even snap the photo.
Luego de caminar pausadamente por la orilla, observar las olas y ver algunas aves avanzamos hacia un pequeño muelle rodeado de rocas, aquí el agua golpeaba fuerte en las rocas produciendo una pequeña llovizna, también pudimos observar que desde este punto la brisa se siente más fuerte, incluso la pinza que tenía en el cabello se me cayó por la fuerte brisa, en estas rocas al igual que las anteriores se esconden los cangrejos, peces y otros animales del mar, para evitar que nos siguiera cayendo la pequeña llovizna, nos quedamos en el centro cerca del bote blanco.
En el agua se observa la intensidad de las olas y como fuertemente golpean con la roca, esta zona es una caminería por así decirlo, de tierra donde los pescadores embarcan y desembarcan cuando regresan con el pescado, la vista del mar es muy bonita y sin planificarlo también logré fotografiar algunas aves, mientras tomaba las fotos no vi que estaban allí pero al revisar el teléfono me emocioné porque logré fotografiar aves, al igual que los cangrejos son también escurridizas y se mueven muy rápido, antes que la cámara haya hecho la toma.
I loved the color of the sky, the sparse clouds, and the breeze at that time of day; several boats moored at the shore were being rocked by the wind and the waves—which were relatively strong compared to what we saw on our first visit—while the sun’s reflection on the water created a beautiful, enchanting landscape. The shoreline itself was a lovely beige, and one could see the stone walkway and the boats I mentioned earlier swaying with the surf.
This unplanned walk along the beach turned out to be genuinely fun and relaxing; strolling at a leisurely pace and stopping at interesting spots is a great way to appreciate the wonders of nature. During our walk, we chatted with a fisherman who was preparing his nets for an early-morning fishing trip; he pointed out the best path to take if we wanted to spot crabs and other creatures like snails and mussels. Thanks to his advice, we saw plenty of crabs—though we kept our distance so as not to disturb them. After walking about a kilometer, we headed back toward the avenue and made our way to our intended destination. Getting off at the wrong stop turned out to be—paradoxically—an excellent opportunity to walk and unwind along the shore.

Esta caminata por la playa sin planificar, honestamente resultó muy divertida y relajante, avanzar pausado y detenerse en los lugares que resultan llamativos, es un buen plan para apreciar las bondades de la naturaleza, durante nuestro recorrido pudimos conversar con un pescador, que preparaba sus redes para la jornada de pesca en la madrugada, él nos indicó por dónde debíamos caminar si queríamos observar cangrejos y otros animales, como caracoles, mejillones y más, gracias a su recomendación pudimos ver muchos cangrejos, eso sí manteniéndonos lejos de ellos, para no interrumpir su trayecto; luego de recorrer aproximadamente un kilómetro, nos devolvimos hacia avenida y tomamos el camino hasta el lugar donde debíamos realizar nuestra, diligencia quedarnos en la parada equivocada fue sin duda aunque parezca contradictorio, una una excelente oportunidad para caminar y relajarnos por la orilla de la playa.
