That museum alone is worth the visit. It is just dedicated to Vincent as his life. There are numerous original letters on display and you can hear them spoken over by vocalists. It's really well done.

Funny thought. I am sure you have seen this painting either in original or in replicas. When I saw this I had the most strange thought. Here is a penniless man in this tiny spartan apartment, but there are six original oil painting hanging in his wall, each worth at a minimum $10M each :) Yet, he haven’t had a damn clue about it! Poor man writing to his brother asking that he ran out of paints and he needs some desperately!!
I've often had this conversation with myself, about the value of life, and what we do in life. So many people want the immortality of being remembered. But that can come at a great cost. It's a tradeoff even in our humble lives (not great artists).
I think posterity could have done without his art, if only he could have lived a happy life. But that wasn't in the cards for him.
