Visiting and Exploring the National Cultural Heritage Site // Taman Sari Gunongan

My province of Aceh holds so much history and culture that is very thick, especially during the glory days of Sultan Iskandar Muda where at that time the area nicknamed Serambi Mekah was very rich and prosperous, also Sultan Iskandar Muda married one of the daughters of the Pahang Sultanate named Putri Kamalia or better known by the people of the Aceh region as Putroe Phang, to entertain his queen who was sad and really missed the mountain atmosphere in her native country, one day the Sultan built a hill-shaped gundogan so that his wife could play together with her ladies-in-waiting, and let's see this Taman Sari gunongan which was built during the reign of Iskandar Muda and is now used as a tourist destination after being renovated several times

Good evening, my friends, wherever you are. I hope you are all healthy and happy, allowing you to carry out your daily activities as usual. I hope you all have a pleasant day.

In this blog, I want to share a historical site strategically located in the center of Banda Aceh, specifically in Sukaramai Village, Baiturrahman District, adjacent to the Dutch cemetery. This place is called Taman Sari Gudongan.

So, please continue to follow my blog to see this place through the images I share, as well as short articles from me.

A few days ago, while touring Banda Aceh with friends, I stopped by one of the historical sites from the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda, a place called Taman Sari Gudongan.

My friends...
This park is located in the center of Banda Aceh, specifically in Sukaramai Village, Baiturrahman District.
Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by the main building, which was built to house the history of Sultan Iskandar Muda's reign. Unfortunately, the park wasn't open yet on the day we visited, so we could only briefly explore the outside area.

Next, I began exploring the park, which I personally found to have complete public facilities, from parking for visitors' vehicles to a play area for families with small children.

This park once looked simple; its primary purpose was to provide a recreation area for the Sultan's consorts during the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda.

After gradual renovations by the Banda Aceh government, the park is now a tourist destination.

The weather was very sunny that day, so after I took a few pictures in the playground area, we headed straight to the main attraction, the Taman Sari Gunongan, a historical site that existed during the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda (1607).

My friend...
At that time, Sultan Iskandar Muda married a princess from the Pahang Sultanate. After marrying Sultan Iskandar Muda, the princess became very homesick. To comfort his sad and homesick wife, the Sultan built a hill-shaped Gunongan so his wife could play with her ladies-in-waiting.

Then this park was used as a fun place for the Sultan's consort who was the daughter of the Sultan of Johor.
And near the gudongan there is a cage which is used as the tomb of Sultan Iskandar Thani.

My friend....
Sultan Iskandar Thani was the son-in-law of Sultan Iskandar Muda who was in control of the government from 1636 - 1642 AD, and Sultan Iskandar Thani himself was the son of the Malaysian Phang sultan who married the sultanah Safiyadin Tajul Alam.
If you are interested in following and seeing historical details, you can search on the internet regarding history of Sultan Iskandar Muda and Putro Phang

As I said above, it was a bit of a shame that when we visited this park, it wasn't yet open so we could only see a glimpse of it from the outside.

This location remains quite neat and clean, with its predominantly white buildings.
Honestly, I've noticed a lack of visitors to this destination recently, and a friend of mine who lives in the area also said that over the past two years, the place has become quieter, with most visitors occasionally coming from Malaysia. This is due to its close historical connection to Johor, Malaysia.

Well, my friends, those are some pictures and a short article from me about Taman Sari Gudongan, a historical site from the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda. I hope you all enjoyed and enjoyed what I've shared. Thank you very much to all of you who have taken the time to view and read my blog to the end.

Please leave your comments, support, and input, as they mean a lot to me, so I can create a better blog in the future.

That's all for now.
Greetings, everyone.
See you in my next blog.
