The RI-001 Seulawah Aircraft Monument, a Silent Witness to Indonesian History and a Pioneer of Indonesian Independence from Aceh

The Seulawah RI-001 Monument located in Blang Padang field, Baiturrahman District, Banda Aceh, is a silent witness to the history of the Acehnese people's contribution in supporting the government to uphold the sovereignty of the newly established Republic of Indonesia when it first became independent. The monument also proves that Aceh was the archipelago region that was most difficult to conquer by the Dutch East Indies colonial government.

Good evening, my friends, wherever you are. I hope you are all healthy and happy so you can go about your daily activities as usual. I hope you all have a pleasant day.

In this blog, I want to share some images featuring the Seulawah RI-001 aircraft monument, the forerunner of Indonesia's aerospace industry.
A few days ago, my friends and I traveled to Banda Aceh, and one of the places we visited was the replica Seulawah RI-001 aircraft monument located at Blang Padang Field.

Continue following my blog to see the aircraft monument up close through the images I'll share later, as well as a brief history of it, which I'll also write about in this blog.

If you've been following my blog lately, you'll have noticed several places I visited when my friends and I toured Banda Aceh a few days ago.

One of those places is the Seulawah RI-001 Monument, the forerunner of the Indonesian Aerospace World.

My friends...
This monument is located at Blang Padang Field, Baiturrahman District, Banda Aceh City.
To enter, you're charged an entrance fee of IDR 5,000, equivalent to 5 HIVE at the current price.

Above are some pictures I took showing the entrance and the ticket price for Blang Padang Field.

After purchasing our tickets, we continued our journey, where we were able to enter and explore the Blang Padang field area.

My friends...
This field is very spacious and contains several historical monuments, one of which is the Seulawah RI-001 Monument, which I shared on this blog. Before heading to the monument, we first parked our motorcycle in the designated area.

We then walked about 50 meters to the monument area. Upon arriving, I immediately took out my cell phone to take some pictures of the Seulawah RI-001 aircraft monument.

My friends...
Aceh was the most difficult region of Indonesia for the Dutch East Indies colonial government to conquer during World War II. This was evident in the fact that Tanah Rencong was the last region to surrender to Dutch colonial rule. This was only achieved after decades of failure and heavy losses in overthrowing the Aceh Sultanate. Besides being historically noted as the most difficult region to conquer, Aceh also made significant contributions to Indonesia's struggle for independence. One of the contributions of the Acehnese people was their support for the government in upholding the sovereignty of the newly established Republic of Indonesia, by purchasing the country's first aircraft from donations from the Acehnese people.

You can research Aceh's history of Indonesian independence online. This monument is a replica of the Seulawah RI-001 aircraft, erected at the initiative of the Indonesian Air Force.

So at that time during the period of Dutch military aggression when my country first became independent, fast logistics distribution between regions was very much needed, air transportation became a solution to overcome the enemy blockade that prevented access to travel by land, this was realized by the first president of my country, Soekarno, who then initiated fundraising for the purchase of government transport aircraft and this effort was responded very well by Acehnese merchants so that they succeeded in purchasing the first aircraft for this country. Thus, a brief history that I tried to detail regarding the Seulawah RI-001 aircraft

Next to the replica of the Seulawah RI-001 aircraft, there's also a written explanation:

"This aircraft was donated by the people of Aceh to the government of the Republic of Indonesia during the struggle for independence. With this aircraft, the Dutch blockade was broken through, and relations between the central government in Yogyakarta and the regions in Sumatra, especially Aceh, were established, thus facilitating the smooth running of government. The dedication of the Acehnese people in the struggle to uphold and defend the independence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, manifested through the donation of this aircraft, reflects a spirit of struggle worthy of emulation and preservation by all Indonesians throughout time."

This is the short inscription on the monument.

Not far from the explanation on the monument, there is also a stone, the first stone laid during the construction of the RI-001 aircraft replica. The inscription on the stone reads:

"By the grace of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, the RI-001 Seulawah Struggle Monument was built as a token of sincere appreciation from the Indonesian Air Force to the people of Aceh in upholding and defending the independence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution during the period 1948-1950."

Well, my friends, that concludes my blog this time about the Seulawah RI-001 Monument, one of the monuments located in Blang Padang Field. This monument also serves as a tribute from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to the Acehnese people for their service in defending the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

I hope you all enjoyed and enjoyed what I shared in this post. Thank you very much to all of you who took the time to view and read my blog to the end.

Please leave your comments, support, and input, which will mean a lot to me so I can make this blog even better in the future.

That's all for now.
Greetings, everyone.
See you in my next blog.
