Still in the Pulau Weh area, during my vacation a few days ago, I encountered a place that made me pause. Not because of the beauty of its famous beaches, nor because of the serenity afforded by every corner of the island, but because of the grandeur of a mosque I discovered, with architecture reminiscent of Middle Eastern architecture. Specifically, the Babussalam Grand Mosque in Sabang City.

So, please continue to follow my simple blog to get a glimpse of this mosque, the pride of the Pulau Weh community, through some images that I will share later, as well as a short article from me.

Located in the center of Sabang City, which I think the Babussalam Grand Mosque is located in a very strategic location so that this mosque is very easy for us to access and if you start your trip from the Port, then I think it only takes about 20 minutes to get to the mosque, Apart from that, as I felt on the way to this mosque without realizing it because along the way we can see and enjoy the tranquility typical of Sabang City, the westernmost city of Indonesia

Upon entering the mosque, I was immediately led to a simple building. The main entrance leads directly to the main motorcycle parking area.

The beauty of this mosque is a unique attraction, both in its architecture and other distinctive features. Inside, you'll see numerous calligraphy adorning the mosque. Furthermore, one of the buildings that caught my attention was the building within the vehicle parking area. I believe this building is almost identical to a traditional Acehnese house, commonly known as a "Rumah Panggung" (Stilt House), which looks very simple. Although not modern, this architecture symbolizes the identity of Pulau Weh as part of Aceh Province.

Then I began exploring the area of ​​the mosque, the pride of the people of Pulau Weh. I then headed to the ablution area and bathroom area located in the basement. Before entering the basement, there was a sign welcoming us: Babussalam, which means door of peace. I think the name also resonated with the experience I felt. As soon as I entered this area, my heart felt calm, far from the noise, and close to my personal gratitude.

Above the ablution area in the basement, I also saw a small dome, which is the building that houses the library provided by the mosque, the pride of the people of Pulau Weh, for visitors who want to enjoy and read about the history of this island.

Next, I began to explore more about this mosque, the pride of the people of Pulau Weh. I found a neat space within the mosque area, the boundaries of sanctity being well-maintained. Furthermore, I appreciate its cleanliness through the photos I share below.

This mosque was built in 1970, marked by the laying of the first stone by the then-Mayor of Sabang. Construction was carried out jointly by the community and the government at that time. However, to expedite the construction process, it was taken over and completed by the Sabang Free Port Command, one of the command agencies in the area.

Now, the Grand Mosque of Babussalam Sabang has become a tourist destination in Sabang. Over time, many visitors have come to this mosque, both to worship and to take photos. Many of them, including myself, have remarked that this mosque is very neat and clean. I believe this is a very suitable religious tourism destination for you to visit when traveling to Pulau Weh.
