(ENG-ESP) Conociendo Alicante, la mejor tierra del mundo - Discovering Alicante, the best place in the world

Algo que me tenía muy entusiasmada de visitar en este viaje, era la ciudad de Alicante, donde se encuentran las oficinas principales de uno de los proveedores de mi trabajo, el cuál me encomendaron visitar aprovechando que estaría por allá.

Llegué desde Valencia en el Renfe, el cual en aproximadamente tardó unas 2 horas, y fue bastante rápido tomando en cuenta la distancia que recorrimos. En Alicante nos quedamos en casa de una amiga de mi mamá, que había trabajado con ella en Venezuela y que tiene algunos años viviendo allá. Ella también es católica, pertenece al camino neocatecumenal y su hijo, al igual que nosotros había ido a Roma por el jubileo.

Mi primera impresión es que Alicante es un lugar muy bonito, parecido a las zonas del este de Caracas, pero con un plus que es tener la playa muy cerca, ya que es una zona costera. La verdad me encantó muchísimo, aunque debo admitir que el calor allí era más fuerte que nunca.

Something I was very excited to visit on this trip was the city of Alicante, where the headquarters of one of my work suppliers are located. I was asked to visit them while I was there.

I arrived from Valencia on the Renfe train, which took about two hours, which was quite fast considering the distance we traveled. In Alicante, we stayed at the home of a friend of my mother's, who had worked with her in Venezuela and had been living there for several years. She is also Catholic, belongs to the Neocatechumenal Way, and her son, like us, had gone to Rome for the Jubilee.

My first impression is that Alicante is a very beautiful place, similar to the eastern areas of Caracas, but with the added bonus of having the beach very close by, as it is a coastal area. I really loved it, although I must admit that the heat there was stronger than ever.

Al día siguiente de haber llegado me dirigí a las oficinas del proveedor, donde tuve la oportunidad de después de 4 años conocer personalmente al equipo que nos ha ayudado a nivel tecnológico en la empresa, a casi todos los había visto al menos una vez en videollamada, o había cruzado algún correo, fueron muy amables y compartimos juntos el desayuno.

The day after I arrived, I went to the supplier's offices, where I had the opportunity, after four years, to meet in person the team that has helped us technologically in the company. I had seen almost all of them at least once on a video call, or had exchanged emails with them. They were very friendly, and we had breakfast together.

Al salir de la reunión nos dispusimos a conocer los alrededores de Alicante, así que fuimos hasta el castillo Santa Bárbara, uno de los principales atractivos turísticos de este lugar, aunque mi outfit no era el más apropiado porque había que caminar bastante, para la próxima iría en zapatos deportivos.

After leaving the meeting, we set out to explore the surroundings of Alicante, so we went to Santa Bárbara Castle, one of the main tourist attractions in this area, although my outfit wasn't the most appropriate because we had to walk quite a bit. Next time, I'll wear sneakers.

También tuvimos la oportunidad de caminar por la explanada, recuerdo que antes de viajar le decía a mi novio que Alicante parecía un poco a Puerto La Cruz por este camino y paisaje, pero realmente es mucho más bonito. La costa es bastante grande y tiene muchos negocios alrededor.

We also had the opportunity to walk along the esplanade. I remember telling my boyfriend before we traveled that Alicante looked a bit like Puerto La Cruz because of this road and landscape, but it is actually much more beautiful. The coast is quite large and has many businesses around it.

De regreso a casa, nos encontramos con que había un concierto de una orquesta en una plaza.

On our way home, we found that there was an orchestra concert in a square.

Al día siguiente fuimos a la playa, fue una experiencia bastante diferente a las playas en Venezuela, puesto que a diferencia de aquí donde alquilan toldos y hay bastantes vendedores ofreciendo comida, helados, entre otros, allá cada quien debe llevarse lo que desea consumir y sus paraguas y sillas para instalarse. También algunas chicas hacen topless, por lo cual no tomé muchas fotos allí.

The next day we went to the beach. It was a very different experience from beaches in Venezuela, because unlike here, where you can rent umbrellas and there are lots of vendors selling food, ice cream, and other things, there, everyone has to bring their own food, umbrellas, and chairs. Some girls also go topless, so I didn't take many photos there.

Y para cerrar la jornada participamos de la misa catecumena, estuvo muy bonita, era nuestra primera vez y nos gustó mucho, aunque es bastante diferente de como estamos acostumbrados nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos.

And to end the day, we attended the catechumen mass. It was very beautiful. It was our first time, and we really enjoyed it. Although it was quite different from what we are used to, they made us feel very welcome.
