St. Peters Island nature an history

Today I invite you on the St. Peters Peninsula in the middle of Lake Biel, nature and history in perfect harmony It was a beautiful day in the late summer last year. The peninsula is a nature reserve with vineyards,forests, birds, lake side and sandy beaches that can be reached by boat, bike, or on a walk via about one hour along the four kilometer long “Heideweg” trail from Erlach or Twann. You can take a break anywhere. Very pleasant picnic spots.

At one point was fully surrounded by water and considered an island, but has ben gradually connected to the mainland, from atmosphere here you feel still like on a island technically is a peninsula.

The monastery on St. Peter's Island, which was build about 12th century, is now an award-winning hotel and restaurant with a really special atmosphere. Ideal location for a wedding, workshop, a party or only for a rest.

The poet Jean-Jaques Rousseau was here also inspired for some of his writings.
