On this delightful occasion, I am back with all of you in this beloved community. Today, I would like to share some photos I took in Aceh during visits to two local reservoirs. These are located in a neighboring village called Bukit Paya; the village features a reservoir designed to store water for the community, supplying irrigation to rice fields that otherwise lack sufficient water.
I had this experience a few weeks agoâspecifically on a Friday, after fulfilling my religious obligations for the day. I decided to visit the site because the weather was incredibly clear; it seemed like the perfect time to visit open-air locationsâsuch as reservoirs, beaches, or other spacious, uncrowded spotsâto enjoy the atmosphere and the scenery.
The location is quite modest, situated in the neighboring village. The route there is simple, consisting of a yellow-earth track that crosses a small bridge. I first passed a reservoir that was low on water, but further ahead lay another one that looked excellent and was well-filled.

This is a random photo taken while I was on my way to a reservoirâa place that still retains its water and surrounding trees. About twenty minutes after passing that area, I arrived at my intended destination: the Bukit Paya reservoir. The village there was once known for kerosene production, though that project has since been discontinued.
Upon arrival, I was struck by the vastness and sense of open space at the reservoir; I could immediately feel the fresh, open air and take in the view of the surrounding mountains and the housing nestled among them. I captured a few images showcasing the beauty of the trees and the reservoir itself.

Usually, many people come to fish around the reservoir at night, looking for good spots to sit; while some also fish during the day, I visited on a Fridayâa time when people were attending to their obligationsâso there was no one fishing there. Large trees dot the area, providing comfortable shade for anglers; these massive trees also create a wonderfully fresh atmosphere. Looking ahead, I spotted two trees that had fallen into the reservoir; they were dry and leafless. The branches, still clearly visible above the water, caught my eye and prompted me to take some photos, as the scene struck me as beautifulâframed by the vast expanse of the reservoir and the distant mountains. I managed to capture two images of the spot.

Seeing the fallen trees with their branches still visible above the water, I was reminded of a natural paintingâspecifically a study of treesâas the leafless branches appeared stark white. Afterward, I headed toward the side of the reservoir, where a path led to a nearby village; flanking the road was a vast expanse of rice fields. The fields looked incredibly lush and vibrant, nourished by the abundant water from the adjacent reservoirâwhich serves the vital purpose of irrigating the crops for both that village and the neighboring one. Seeing such verdant rice fields brought me great joy, knowing they provide the food and sustenance essential for the community and for all of us.
I also took the opportunity to capture a few more photos of the sprawling rice fields and the mountains rising in the distance.
