Am Freitag, 5.6.2026, unternahmen meine Frau Annette und ich eine (für uns) größere Wandertour. Wir verließen unsere Ferienwohnung die Heilsteinstr. 39, in Einruhr (Eifel) in Richtung Süden auf den Hügeln zwischen Erkensruhr und Dedenborn.

Das Ziel war das Rothe Kreuz, einfach weil der Weg dorthin und zurück so schön ist. Auf dem Berggrat wächst dichter Mischwald.

Auf dem Rückweg gingen wir durch das Püngelbachtal über Hirschrott und Erkensruhr.

Beide Dörfer sind für Autos Sackgassen, so dass es dort keinen Durchgangsverkehr gibt. Dementsprechend ruhig ist es dort.

Insgesamt wurden es rund 20 km. Wir trafen dabei außerhalb von Einruhr auf unserem Wanderweg nur ein weiteres Wanderpaar, sowie einige wenige Radfahren. Ansonsten waren wir die 6 Stunden für uns alleine.

On Friday, June 5, 2026, my wife Annette and I set out on a hike that was—for us—quite a substantial one. We left our vacation rental at Heilsteinstr. 39 in Einruhr (Eifel) and headed south, making our way across the hills situated between Erkensruhr and Dedenborn.

Our destination was the "Rothe Kreuz" (Red Cross), simply because the route there and back is so beautiful. A dense mixed forest grows along the mountain ridge.

On the return leg, we walked through the Püngelbach Valley, passing through Hirschrott and Erkensruhr.

Both villages are dead ends for cars, meaning there is no through traffic. It is correspondingly quiet there.

In total, the hike covered around 20 km. Outside of Einruhr, we encountered only one other hiking couple and a few cyclists along the trail. Otherwise, we had the place to ourselves for the entire six hours. Komoot Tour Data:
