Hello everyone!
Bayanihan has always been part of Filipino culture, and I am grateful that I get to experience it in our own community.
I live in Purok Riverside, the smallest purok in our barangay and even in our municipality. Our community was only established five years ago, so we have only a few residents. But I have learned that the number of people doesn't matter. What truly matters is how willing everyone is to help each other.

This coming August, our community will once again compete in our municipality for the Nutrition Month Celebration with the theme "Kalusugan Pahalagahan." This year's competition focuses on organic and sustainable gardening and climate-smart practices. We are also required to grow more than 10 kinds of herbs and spices and at least 20 varieties of vegetables. Because of these new requirements, we are now planting more crops and making sure our community garden becomes more productive.

We only received the memorandum this July, so we immediately started preparing. Every day, I see our neighbors planting vegetables, herbs, and spices, pulling weeds, cleaning the surroundings, and improving our garden. Everyone gives their time and effort without expecting anything in return. Watching them work together makes me appreciate our community even more.

One thing I truly admire about Purok Riverside is the cooperation and dedication of our residents. Even though we are few, everyone is active and willing to help. This experience made me realize that success is not about having many people. A small community can accomplish great things when everyone works together with one purpose.

Of course, we also have challenges. Our biggest problem is our limited budget for improving our purok center. We asked our barangay for assistance, but they also have limited funds. Instead of losing hope, we continue through bayanihan. Everyone contributes whatever they can, whether it is labor, materials, or simply their time.

And no matter how busy we are, we never forget our snack time. Sometimes generous sponsors provide snacks, but yesterday we simply bought soft drinks and biscuits to share with everyone. Those simple moments of eating together, laughing, and resting remind me that happiness doesn't have to be expensive.

As we continue preparing for the competition, I pray that all our hard work will bear fruit. Win or lose, I am already proud of our small community because every day I witness the true spirit of bayanihan. That, for me, is already a victory.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
Have a nice day!
