The Philippines is rich in history and most of its historical structures were rebuilt after World War II. Every tourist in my home town would not miss seeing Casa de Comunidad de Tayabas or what we call "Bahay na Bato". A little overview Casa de Comunidad de Tayabas is declared as one of the Historical Landmark in the year 1978. It was first built during the Spanish occupation year 1831 when Don Diego Enriquez was the "gobernadorcillo". The historical Landmark is famous for the trial and firing squad of Apolinario De la Cruz ( Hermano Pule ) the leader of Confradia De San Jose in the year 1841. Decades have passed and the Bahay na Bato became a museum, function hall, and offices.
Let me tour you inside the Casa during the time of re-electing Mayor Ernida Agpi Reynoso in the year 2019, the structure was renovated to make it an office of several government agencies. The entrance is a double door made of Narra tree, beside is the receiving and information area wherein you can ask questions. When you are inside you will see famous baro't saya designs that our forefathers used to wear on special occasions. The traditional clothes are inside the glass box and on the right above corner is the description, there are around 8 to 10 baro't saya on the left and right corner.

Walk straight you will see the historical landmarks located around the City of Tayabas most of which were built in the Spanish era and now are preserved with the help of the local government and the community . In the middle of the banners is the winner from the “ SangNayon ng Sining Art” a project done in the year 2025 during the Mayohan Festival whose theme revolved around culture and heritage .

On the other side you will see a model balcony of a traditional house in Tayabas city where it depicts the habit of drinking in front of the house . The house is made of coconut shell , coconut tree is abundant in Tayabas that is why there are dozens of Lambanog (coconut wine) distillery here . Speaking of Lamabanog we usually have this during the “Ritual of Tagayan” which can be done any time of the day .
The Casa is treated now as an important historical landmark and museum so it makes sense to transfer the Tourism Office inside . The staff are very welcoming and approachable so when you get here and need help do not hesitate to ask .
The most fascinating part of the second floor is the session hall, the broad floor area can hold up to 50 to 80 guests with a magnificent antique chandelier, dining table, piano, and our national flag. It also caters to major events like seminars, theater, meetings, and setting for soap opera of ABS CBN "Killer Bride"
I am proud of the Casa Communidad De Tayabas it stands firm and reflects our history .

I can appreciate details of Spain's colonial past, but what I liked most was the display of traditional Filipino dresses; they are beautiful. It is a perfect place to set up the tourist office, yes. I hope that huge hall gets filled up often.
