Here I am, as I am every Wednesday, to share my journey with you. It’s already become a little ritual that I enjoy more than I ever imagined—a habit that stays with me and invites me to pause for a moment to look at my day through a different lens. And of course, I owe this habit to @tattoodjay’s initiative, which manages to capture my attention every Wednesday and motivate me to write, remember, and give thanks.
Before I begin, I want to wish you a wonderful Wednesday, full of beautiful emotions—the kind that linger in your memory without making a sound but that light up your heart. I hope you find something today that makes you smile, even if just for a moment.
I’ll tell you that my day, even though it was full of work, was truly beautiful. It dawned cloudy, with that gray that sometimes makes you want to stay home, but then the weather decided to change its mood and turned into scorching heat—the kind that makes you want to live inside the air conditioning. However, since I had to work alone, I chose not to dwell on the exhaustion caused by the heat and focused on what always saves me: the scenery. Nature never fails to gift us with beauty, even on the toughest days.
Acá estoy, como cada miércoles, para compartirles mi recorrido. Ya se ha convertido en un pequeño ritual que disfruto más de lo que imaginé, una costumbre que me acompaña y me invita a detenerme un momento para mirar mi día con otros ojos. Y claro, le debo este hábito a la iniciativa de @tattoodjay, que cada miércoles logra robarme la atención y motivarme a escribir, a recordar y a agradecer.
Antes de comenzar, quiero desearles un miércoles maravilloso, lleno de emociones bonitas, de esas que se quedan en la memoria sin hacer ruido pero que iluminan el corazón. Ojalá hoy encuentren algo que los haga sonreír, aunque sea por un instante.
Les cuento que mi día, aunque estuvo lleno de trabajo, fue realmente hermoso. Amaneció nublado, con ese gris que a veces invita a quedarse en casa, pero luego el clima decidió cambiar de humor y se transformó en un calor abrasador, de esos que hacen que uno quiera vivir dentro del aire acondicionado. Sin embargo, como me tocaba trabajar sola, preferí no pensar demasiado en el agotamiento que provoca el calor y me concentré en lo que siempre me salva; los paisajes. La naturaleza nunca falla cuando se trata de regalarnos belleza, incluso en los días más pesados.
My only task for the day was to go to Sunsol Unik to carry out my chlorination and disinfection routine. Although it may seem repetitive, it’s still important to me. Every step serves a purpose, and knowing that I’m helping to keep the facilities in good condition gives me a sense of accomplishment.
Mi única tarea del día era ir al Sunsol Unik para hacer mi rutina de clorado y desinfección. Aunque pueda parecer repetitivo, para mí sigue siendo importante. Cada paso tiene su razón de ser, y saber que contribuyo a mantener los espacios en buen estado me da una sensación de responsabilidad cumplida.
When we were done, we decided to drive through town to find a pet tracker with Wi-Fi for one of our pets. Lately, one of our dogs, Koki, has decided that running away is his new favorite adventure. We have two: Frida, the female, and Koki, the male. It turns out that a neighbor’s female dog is in heat, and, as expected, Koki lost his cool. He digs holes, breaks through the fence, and has already run away twice this week. What worries me most isn’t that he leaves, but that he comes back injured or sick, because he has a complicated temperament and I don’t want him to get into trouble. To make matters worse, the neighbor decided to leave his dog outside because the noise was bothering him, so the temptation is right there, in plain sight of Koki, as if it were a challenge.
We went to several stores, but many people didn’t even know what I was talking about. In the end, it looks like I’ll have to buy the device online, which means waiting several days. In the meantime, I’ll have to figure out a way to keep Koki from running away again. We’ll see what I come up with.
Al terminar, decidimos pasar por la ciudad para buscar un localizador con wifi para una de nuestras mascotas. Últimamente, uno de nuestros perros, Koki, ha decidido que escaparse es su nueva aventura favorita. Tenemos dos: Frida, la hembra, y Koki, el macho. Resulta que la perrita de un vecino está en celo y, como era de esperarse, Koki perdió la compostura. Abre huecos, rompe la cerca y ya lleva dos fugas esta semana. Lo que más me preocupa no es que se vaya, sino que regrese herido o enfermo, porque tiene un carácter complicado y no quiero que se meta en problemas. Para colmo, el vecino decidió dejar a su perrita fuera de casa porque la bulla lo molestaba, así que la tentación está ahí, a la vista de Koki, como si fuera un reto.
Fuimos a varias tiendas, pero muchas personas ni siquiera sabían de qué les hablaba. Al final, parece que tendré que comprar el dispositivo por internet, lo que significa esperar varios días. Mientras tanto, tendré que ingeniármelas para que Koki no vuelva a escaparse. Ya veremos qué invento.
On the way back, we stopped by my dad’s house. It’s right along the way, and if he finds out I drove by without saying hi, he’ll get upset. And honestly, I don’t want that. I said hi, we chatted for a bit, and we laughed at his turkey, who was showing off more than ever today, strutting around in front of the female as if he owned the world.
De regreso, pasamos por casa de mi padre. Él queda justo en el camino y, si se entera de que pasé cerca sin saludarlo, se molesta. Y la verdad, no quiero eso. After sharing that family moment, we headed back home. I was a little anxious because I wanted to get there quickly so I could order the tracker online and finally settle this matter with Koki.
And so, dear friends of the Wednesday Walk, that’s how my walk went today. It wasn’t very long, but it was full of little stories—the kind that turn an ordinary day into something special.
