Wednesday Walk - The Rajpur Bipattarini Chandi Bari

On 16 February, 2026, we went to visit The Rajpur Bipattarini Chandi Bari which is located in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, India. It is said that goddess Bipattarini is a form of goddess Durga. She is a Hindu goddess, and worshipped first in West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha, according to info gathered from internet.

I already visited Bipattarini Chandi Bari before, but it was first time for my elder brother and his wife. So, we went there, but unfortunately the temple was closed because goddess Bipattarini is worshipped alongside Shiva near crematorium during Shivratri. We went to visit the Chandi Bari on the day of Shivratri. Then we went to near crematorium where the goddess Bipattarini was being worshipped alongside Shiva.

This is the goddess Kali which is also considered a form of the goddess Durga or Shakti, the power of Lord Shiva. It is considered that there are many form of the goddess Shakti, and the goddess Bipattarini is one among them.

There were many people to see the goddess idol.

This was the idol of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati, if I am not wrong.

There were many idols that you can see in the given photographs. This was the goddess Baishnobi.

This is goddess Kamala.

Even thought devotees and visitors were coming there, the crowd was manageable. First time we came to know that there was a crematorium in Rajpur and the Bipattarini Chandi Bari remain closed during Shivratri.

There was one common thing that was photography. Most devotees were taking photos of idols there. Android camera makes people amateur photographers.

This is an outside view of the place where the idols of all god and goddess were kept.

I wanted to capture a photo of a shop across the road that was selling household utensils, but at the same time a bike came in front of my mobile camera.

Many small and wonderful sculptures of god and goddess were being sold on the street side. They were also selling beautiful cups. The price was INR 50 for a single cup. It was a little bit costly.

On the way of returning to home, we had some delicious food in the evening. This was french fried.

My elder brother ate Vada Pav, while I and my nephew consumed peri peri chicken wings. It was also delicious.

My elder brother's wife had only a cup of tea there.

That's it for now.
