English Version
The Seafront Promenade of 1st and 70, in Havana, within the coastal municipality of Playa, is a very well-known place and recommended for sea lovers. It is the perfect spot for a quiet stroll, a relaxed walk, or simply to sit and contemplate the horizon. Here one enjoys both the pink and orange of the sky at sunrise and the golden tones that color the sea at sunset.
Before becoming the promenade we know today, this area was a small stretch of coast with some concrete benches, the sidewalk that bordered the sea, and several platforms that gave direct access to the water, which still exist. It was the place where families and nearby neighbors used to gather on weekends to enjoy the beach. I myself visited it in other times and remember that it was always a busy site, where parents brought their small children so they could take a fun dip. Over the years the area gradually changed, and new establishments, bars, and restaurants began to appear, and the whole environment improved and gained even more life.
Nowadays the restaurants and bars found here are private, and although their prices tend to be high, the place gets quite full, especially at night. There is also a small amusement park for children, and to shelter from the sun several umbrellas have been installed very close to the beach, which makes the promenade more comfortable for those who seek to rest.
Another detail that adds value to the place is the large number of hotels that have been built nearby. Right in front of the promenade rise two of the most modern and grand hotels recently built, the Marealta and the Grand Muthu. There is also the Panorama, an older but equally attractive hotel, which also integrates with the view and the atmosphere of the surroundings. From any of these hotels, the panorama of the sea and the nearby coast must be an unforgettable experience for those who stay there.
Walking along the promenade of 1st and 70 is to feel the breeze, listen to the sound of the waves, and spend a relaxed and peaceful moment. This is one of those corners that always makes you want to return.
I hope you have enjoyed the tour.
Cheers, and until next time!
