For this #WednesdayWalk hosted by @tattoodjay, we're heading to the beautiful Algarve region in Portugal. With the blue sky and sunshine, the beach is inviting, though the water is a bit cold for me (17°C / 62°F). To cool off, it’s pleasant to walk with your feet in the water while hunting for treasures in the sand. This day, I was at Praia do Vale da Lama beach, near the town of Lagos.

Praia do Vale da Lama is very close to the town of Lagos, towards Odiaxere. By car, it requires a "long" detour inland. By bike, it's simpler; there is a direct path.

🗺️ Position on OpenStreetMap

To reach Praia do Vale da Lama, you have to take a small path along a jetty that crosses the "lagoon". On one side, there is an oyster farm, clearly visible since it was low tide. While on the other, the jetty has created a stretch of water used by a kitesurfing and windsurfing school. Perfect for practice...
The path to the beach isn't very long, though the causeway could use some minor repairs in places. It’s a pleasant walk, especially since the beach awaits at the end. You might spot a few birds, including small cranes. However, photographing birds isn't really my specialty; they’re too fast for my camera, which is more accustomed to #StreetArt 😀. It doesn't fly away when you approach.
I notice that I didn't take a photo of the beach itself. Its advantage is that there is hardly anyone there, unlike the beach in Lagos. It’s quiet, and easy to find a spot of fine sand to lay out your towel. However, it was quite windy; the parasol didn't hold up against the strong gusts.
Since I no longer had any shade and I’m not a fan of tanning, I went for a walk along the beach to see if I could find any seashells or other treasures left behind by the ocean. Here is the only interesting thing I found 😅. I was hoping to save this fish by putting it back in the water, but it was a failure... Just kidding! 😂
At the far end of the beach, the lagoon opens onto the Atlantic Ocean, marked by a jetty with a red lighthouse at its tip to guide passing boats. This short walk had worked up my appetite, especially since it was starting to get hot. It was time to leave and find a restaurant.
On the way back to Lagos, we stumbled upon Casa Chico Zé, a restaurant serving grilled fish and meat. At the entrance, you can see the fresh fish available and choose exactly what you want to eat. Prices are quite reasonable, and the portions are generous. It was a great experience, especially with the house wine 😋.
The restaurant has a huge park where the owners have recreated a traditional Portuguese village, complete with a church, a school, and more. There is a swimming pool for cooling off and some play equipment for children. It is really pleasant to take a stroll there after the meal.
I hope you enjoyed this outing to the beach and the restaurant—the perfect combo for a lovely day of vacation. Have a great #WednesdayWalk...

Hello, @heroldius!
Algarve has a lot to offer for those who dare to discover the "hidden" corners that aren't in the vacations guide's first recommended places to go.
Last time that I was in Algarve region it was surely +20 years ago... But it leaves always a good feeling, and a longing for a fast return. I still have +20 days of vacations to schedule, maybe I'll pick up the train and revisit it!
Great shots! Thank you for sharing with us!
Poor fish, if you came earlier maybe he could have a chance... 😅
Yes, it really is a beautiful region, with places that aren't too crowded with tourists. I went to a beer festival in Silves; a lovely village with a castle. It’s well worth visiting more than once.

Happy #wednesdaywalk! Nice dehydrated fish you found on the beach 😆 I too am a beach walker not a sun worshiper. Looks like a nice walk and always good when it ends with a nice restaurant.
I couldn't save this fish; I arrived too late 😀
A walk on the beach is always interesting; there are treasures to discover.
Have a beautiful and sunny day
