For this #WednesdayWalk hosted by @tattoodjay, I'll present to you my last walk in Portugal. The day just before leaving to return to Montreal, I went for a walk at Parque das Naões and enjoyed the Oceanário de Lisboa, one of the largest aquariums in Europe. This neighborhood deserves more than half a day to enjoy all its attractions.

As my flight back to Montreal was very early in the morning, I took a night in a hotel directly at the airport after my few days in the Algarve. After returning my rental car and packing up at the hotel, head to the Oriente metro station to stretch your legs on the edge of the Tage.
The first activity of the afternoon was the visit to Oceanário de Lisboa. For history, it is the Oceans Pavilion built for the 1998 Lisbon International Exhibition by the architect Peter Chermayeff. The building is surrounded by water which contains in its center a reservoir of 5,000 cubic meters of water.
I didn't take many photos inside. It doesn't look very good. The first part contains several biotopes where you can see some animals (penguins, otters...) before crossing a bridge to see the huge aquarium.
It's quite impressive, there are really big fish. But entry is still a bit expensive in my opinion.
After the visit, quite long and interesting, I am back on the banks of the Tagus to enjoy the beautiful blue sky and the sun. I don't have the cable cars that go to the Vasco de Gama Tower (which can be seen in the background in the photo above 🔼). I decided instead to walk quietly to find a coffee.
Very close to Edifício Nau, I found the place to have a good espresso, Grupeto Bike Café, a café which also serves to repair bicycles. The owner must be a cycling fan, everywhere there are bicycles or pieces of bicycle. While drinking my coffee, I learned a new acronym Mamils, Middle-Aged Man In Lycra. I like it 😀.
J'adore 😀.
On my way back to Oriente metro station, I saw this stencil. The hope of seeing #StreetArt in this neighborhood was born in my mind.
I passed again in front of the entrance to the aquarium where the Jardin da Água, water garden, is located. When I passed, the water wasn't there. It was rather dry. But the design is rather nice with these huge parasols which provide very pleasant shade, especially during the summer.
Then before arriving at the Vasco de Gama Shopping Center, we find pavilion from the 1998 International Exhibition with this rather brutalist architecture. I really liked this building 🔽 especially with this concrete sheet stretched between the two pavilions, quite impressive. This is the Pavilhão de Portugal.
The #StreetArt was there with the most famous representative of Portugal, the artist Bordalo. It's always incredible to see his works made of waste. This is a huge cat with paws made from large trash bins. I'll let you admire the work.
It was time to return to the hotel to take a good shower and spend one last evening in Lisbon (direction to the Time Out Market to eat a steak from Café de São Bento, a delight). I hope you enjoyed this #WednesdayWalk with me on the banks of the Tagus. This trip to Portugal was really good, a very beautiful country full of history, #StreetArt, good food and beers. To return...
A retourner...
