In Protaras, a city located on the southeastern coast of Cyprus, the beach stretches almost the entire length of the coast.

When you are staying in nearby Pernera (as was the case with us), to reach the beaches of Protaras, you need to walk a little more than 3 kilometers.
A landscaped promenade, the likes of which I have never seen anywhere, stretches along the entire length of the coast.
If you look closely, you can see how long it is in this photo.

And believe me, it's longer than this map shows🙂
The walk in itself is not a problem and it would not be demanding if the sun had not started to burn in the morning.
Eager to visit the farthest beach of Protaras — the famous Fig Tree Beach — we arm ourselves with hats, sunglasses and water bottles.

We use every opportunity to take shelter from the sun for a while, taking a break under the protective awnings of the terraces, which offer a beautiful view of the open sea.

However, despite the beautiful scenery, getting to the beach completely exhausts us.
The impression is further spoiled by the large number of bathers and the squealing of small children enjoying the beautiful water.

After a short refreshment, we agree to return to this beach the next morning — while the sun's rays are still low on the horizon and there are no crowds.
We get up early, before dawn, and start our #WednesdayWalk.
We pass again along the path by the sea and witness the sunrise.

The #photography I take remain as a reminder of this wonderful walk at dawn.
We pass by the large beach of Vrissiana and reach the Fig Tree beach.
Swimming in calm water, when there is no one around you, is a priceless atmosphere.

Without needing to lay down on a deck chair, I continue walking along the great path until I reach the lookout point on the peninsula.

From that point I followed the path that continued into the distance by the sea and decided to go back to Fig Tree Beach because the sun was already starting to get very hot.
Walking on soft sand without a single bather made this walk a great decision.
I can tell you — if I find myself in this resort again, I will definitely visit the beaches early in the morning.

The return from Fig Tree Beach on my new pin on #worldmappin was a bit more demanding, so we repeated the breaks during which I had the opportunity to photograph details on the coast.

Thank you for stopping by my post and I hope you enjoyed the photos and the story I shared with you

I'm glad you like the photos.
Thank you
The sea is so crystal clear and blue, you choose a perfect day to go, too perfect in a way with the heat 😉
By the way, where exactly is "the" fig tree? I saw it was mentioned in the sign board by the sculpture
And in addition to all these photos, I failed to post one that the beach was named after 🤣
When I heard the name of that beach, I imagined a forest of fig trees, however, there are very few of them.
It can be seen partly in the picture of the beach or in the picture with the sculpture.
And here, I will betray this gentleman who was picking ripe fruits.
If he receives a report for the destruction of cultural property, I'm sorry 🙂
looks like a great location to visitwhen it's not to hot .

I was at the end of August, beginning of September. although the temperature is not too high (a little over 30°C), the sun is very strong.
Only until 9-9.30am and after 3.30-4pm is it OK to be in the sun.
They say that the second half of September is perhaps the best period to visit Cyprus.
I will try that term another time 🙂
Thanks 🙂
It’s a good thing you all thought of exploring the place early in the morning or before sunrise. Aside from there being fewer people around, you also won’t have to suffer from the heat. Especially with a beautiful place like this, I’m sure your walk will take longer because you’ll be enjoying all the amazing views along the way.
Lately, I've started going on pre-dawn tours.
It's impossible to experience tranquility, peace and quiet, with a pleasant temperature, during the day, especially on summer vacations

Dear @lauramica and @worldmappin team, this gold medal of today's Travel digest warmed me up on this busy day, like the sun over the Cypriot beach a month ago 😀

You are very welcome @duskobgd! it was well deserved. ☀️
We are already looking forward to reading more about your adventures!
That early morning swim at Fig Tree Beach looks totally worth the second trip. Honestly three kilometers in the burning sun sounds brutal though so smart move heading out before dawn the next day.
I repeated the walk before dawn and in the other direction, in order to discover some more beaches, but I will show it in one of the following posts :-)
