Las Heroínas is one of my favorite places in the city of Mérida, and in recent years, the boulevard has attracted the attention of locals and visitors alike for its picturesque architecture and because it is home to various hotels and tourist inns, travel agencies, excellent restaurants, and craft shops.

For these reasons and more, today on our Wednesday walk, I want to take you on a short tour of this part of the city, which at Christmas was full of color, lights, and many people enjoying its pleasant climate and friendly people.

Let's start with the plaza, the ideal meeting place to spend a pleasant time and clear your mind; it is also the starting point for the various sightseeing tours offered in this area.

This has been my favorite square since I was a child; I love its central fountain, although when we arrived it wasn't lit up yet; it was also too early to enjoy the lights and decorations. They placed a Christmas tree in the center of the fountain, so I imagine it looked even more beautiful.

As always, children fill this square with their joy. Inflatables, trampolines, bicycles, and electric cars are some of the things offered to the little ones; some attractions are free and others are not.

The first thing we saw was a train, and we didn't miss the opportunity to take pictures of my son. We took advantage of the opportunity to play with him, who preferred to run with us rather than go on any of the rides.

The sculpture of the heroines looked perfect this afternoon; each of these women has a great story, as each played an important role while our liberator Simón Bolívar was passing through the Andean region in his fight for independence.

After enjoying ourselves for a while in this square, we walked a little along the boulevard; it looked beautiful, I loved every red arch and every star.

As always, walking along the boulevard feels incredible, but it had been a long time since I had done so at dusk; it was much busier, with most businesses open and lots of people waiting for the square to light up.

The architecture of this place has always caught my attention, and I'm glad it has remained that way over time; I found new businesses that seem to offer interesting products.

Of course, we had to visit Mafalda and her friends Susanita and Manolito, characters from the iconic Argentine cartoon created by Quino. These beautiful sculptures have been on the boulevard for about three years.

Among the new things I found tonight was a new travel agency, whose facade is a replica of the stone chapel located in the Merida moorlands. This chapel is one of the most visited tourist sites due to its history and unique beauty, as well as being an architectural landmark.

It was time to leave, as we had to catch the bus back to our town and return home. Although we didn't get to see the square lit up, we were happy to have enjoyed the Boulevard of Heroines, which looked perfect this Christmas.

Las Heroínas es uno de mis sitios favoritos en la ciudad de Mérida y en los últimos años el bulevar ha llamado la atención de propios y visitantes por su arquitectura pintoresca y porque en él encontramos distintos hoteles y posadas turísticas, agencias de turismo y excelentes restaurantes y ventas de artesanías.

Por eso y más, hoy en la caminata de los miércoles quiero darles un pequeño paseo por este sector de la ciudad que en Navidad estaba lleno de color, luces y muchas personas disfrutando de su agradable clima y su gente cordial.

Comencemos por su plaza, el punto de encuentro ideal para pasar un rato agradable y despejar la mente; además, es el punto de partida a los distintos paseos turísticos que ofrecen en esta zona.

Esta ha sido mi plaza favorita desde niña; amo su fuente central, aunque cuando llegamos aún no estaba encendida; también era muy temprano para disfrutar de las luces y sus decoraciones. En el centro de la fuente colocaron un árbol de Navidad, así que supongo que se veía mucho más hermosa.

Como siempre, los niños desbordan esta plaza con su alegría. Inflables, brinca brinca, bicicletas y carros eléctricos son algunas de las cosas que les ofrecen a los más pequeños; algunas atracciones son gratuitas y otras no.

Lo primero que observamos es un tren y no perdimos oportunidad para tomarle fotos a mi niño; aprovechamos de jugar con él, que prefirió correr con nosotros antes de cualquier atracción.

La escultura de las heroínas lucía perfecta esta tarde; cada una de estas mujeres tiene una gran historia, ya que cada una jugó un papel importante mientras nuestro libertador Simón Bolívar estaba de paso en la región andina en su lucha por la independencia.

Después de disfrutar un rato en esta plaza, caminamos un poco por el bulevar; se veía hermoso, amé cada arco de color rojo y cada una de sus estrellas.

Como siempre, caminar por el bulevar se siente increíble, pero hacía mucho tiempo que no lo hacía al anochecer; estaba mucho más activo, la mayoría de los negocios abiertos y mucha gente dispuesta a esperar el encendido de la plaza.

La arquitectura de este lugar siempre ha llamado mi atención y me alegra que se mantenga así con el tiempo; encontré negocios nuevos, que parece que ofrecen productos interesantes que ofrecer.

Por supuesto que teníamos que visitar a Mafalda y sus amigos Susanita y Manolito. Los personajes de la icónica caricatura argentina creada por Quino. Estas bellas esculturas tienen aproximadamente unos 3 años en el bulevar.

Entre las novedades que encontré esta noche, fue una nueva agencia de turismo, cuya fachada es una réplica de la capilla de piedra que está ubicada en el páramo merideño. Esta capilla es uno de los sitios más visitados turísticamente por su historia y particular belleza, además de ser un hito arquitectónico.

Llegó la hora de irnos, ya que debíamos tomar el autobús hasta nuestro municipio y volver a casa, y aunque no disfrutamos del encendido de la plaza, nos alegra haber disfrutado del bulevar de las heroínas, que lucía perfecto esta Navidad.
