This park is known worldwide as a magical amusement park. The park was founded by Georg Carstensen. In August 1843 the park was opened. One of the early visitors was H.C.Andersen, a Danish fairytale writer who is probablyalso known worldwide. The park inspired him to write the fairytale "The Nightingale". Another person who also got inspiration from the park was Walt Disney. He visited Tivoli in 1951 and was so captivated by the fairytale atmosphere. The park gave him ideas for his Disneyland.
Tivoli, which is located in the city center of the Danish capital, has everything to make you want to stay for hours. You will find rides of many kinds. Shops, restaurants and games. You might experience events like theatre, music and dance performanses.

The entrance seen on the inside
The original entrance did not look like the current one. It was a wooden gate with a somewhat more modest appearance. It was not until 1890 that the present-day entrance was built. I did not manage to take a photo from the outside, but it is a magnificent entrance from the inside as well. It was here , at the entrance, I bought a ticket for 200 Danish kroner—approximately 26 euros. However, there are many different subscription options available. This system of various tickets and a "Tivoli Pass" has existed since 1845. The options were tailored to whether one was visiting alone, accompanied by one or more people, and so on.

Right after entering, the Halloween atmosphere is in full swing. There are so many wonderful decorations and hundreds of pumpkins in all sorts of sizes.

Eventually I get to all the activities such as the carousels and Ferris wheels etc. There is a great variety here. Some are suitable for the very little ones, while some others are definitely for the most thrill seekers.

Tivoli Lake
Finally, I come to Tivoli Lake. Here I walked around the entire lake and returned to the area around Nimb. The lake was established in 1887. Originally, it was part of a moat. When Tivoli was built, it site was outside the city walls. For a period until sometime in the 20th century, the lake formed the setting for events. All with different themes. This is a great area where it's nice to sit on a bench and just enjoy the surroundings. If you har hungry, you will find some eateries with a view of the lake.

This grand, palace-like building houses both a hotel and restaurants. It is called Nimb and dates back to the early 20th century. It has been renovated and reopened in 2008 and when it openened it was with a larger choice of restaurant options. What you see in the foreground are huge pumkins. The giant pumpkins are on display, with a small metal plate. On the plate you find the names of the owner and the weights of the pumkin. I therefore assume that a winner will be declared at some point. They looked real, but I find it hard to believe that pumpkins can grow to be that big.

My post-dinner stroll took me back to Tivoli Lake, passing by different attractions than the ones I had seen earlier in the afternoon.

The Japanese Pagoda was designed in the year 1900. Its design is inspired by the East, incorporating elements from both Japanese and Chinese temples and pagodas. It has housed restaurants serving everything from Danish cuisine to Asian dishes, and it continues to house a restaurant. It features more than 2,000 glass lanterns, which look absolutely beautiful when illuminated in the evening. I imagine you can now understand why I wanted to see the park in the evening as well.
Tivoli is often featured in travel magazines as a uniquely historic park. The park is particularly well-known for its Halloween and Christmas markets.Tivoli Gardens is definitely a magical place.

Tivoli after dark at Halloween with dinner at Groften in between sounds like the perfect way to do it, and I love that the same park inspired both Andersen and Disney.
I really like the idea of how two famous persons were inspired by this park🙂
Two strolls through Tivoli after dark with dinner at Grøften in between sounds like the perfect way to catch that Halloween atmosphere, and the H.C. Andersen link is a lovely bit of history.

This place is absolutely stunning! You’ll be amazed the moment you reach the entrance—especially with all the pumpkins on display for Halloween; it looks truly wonderful. It’s even more beautiful at night, as the lights add to the lovely scenery. It’s definitely worth the admission—if there even is a fee, hehe! Thankyou for the tour of this beautiful scenery 🤩
