A charming square in the middle of an evening stroll. ✨

The streets are full of colours, colours that can go unnoticed at night, but the lights shine and the places sparkle in the middle of the dark night to delight us with unique spaces.

These days are special for evening strolls despite the cold, which is not really that cold as it never freezes here. The shops and restaurants can have lights that make them wonderful and one walks through the streets finding new businesses.

There are also some traditional ones like this place that sells nougat, chocolates and various drinks that are ideal for this time of year. I went over to see what they had and the boxes with panetones looked great, as well as the decorations and the large amount of chocolates.

The Christmas decorations in combination with the building styles made a good combination.

This cow is always on the lookout for anyone passing by on the street, but as it had rained she had borrowed an umbrella.

I was approaching the castle area and there were people walking in all directions. The reflections on the pavements were beautiful.

I headed down Alcazabilla street, and there was a beautiful nativity scene made with lights in front of the Roman theatre. That area of the city is one of my favourites because of the history it has and the great promenade with the wide street, the cinemas in the centre, the most famous and classic restaurants.

I walked along that street especially looking at the reflections of the amount of lights, it seemed as if it had rained. Very beautiful.

When I got to the corner I crossed the street in the direction of the Plaza de La Merced, one of the most emblematic squares, also because of its great history as well as being very touristic. It is the square where the life-size sculpture of Picasso sits and in front of it is the house where he was born.

There are many restaurants around it, restaurants of many styles and varieties of food. All the buildings in the area are beautifully illuminated, but the square these days stands out from them by far.

All the trees were lit up and the square seemed to be a different place. In addition, each tree had Christmas decorations between its branches.

In spite of the shadows they create more reflections on the ground, thus refracting and producing a feeling that it was not night but day.

The obelisk in the centre of the square looked radiant, full of light that focused from below and creating a spectacular contrast with the dark sky.

I walked around the square both inside and outside, looking at the restaurants, the decorations, the people passing by and above all the lights which I love, everything shines in a very particular way.

After two laps around the square I went to the tunnel under the castle, which is very well lit. I had never been through it at night before and I loved it. It leads under the Alcazaba castle gardens or dark gate gardens as they are known, but at the same time you can see the main avenue with its illumination.

There were still buses, but the night was beautiful, I think it was only 14 degrees centigrade and I preferred to walk a bit more through the streets before returning. It was a great walk, where the Christmas air, the lights and the sights made the view more cheerful.
