Solo Road Trip: The mind is willing but the body is weak

Who wouldn’t love to visit new places and feed the eyes with beautiful sights? Absolutely no one!

I love to travel, and I have imagined myself going on beautiful trips to different places within my country. However, whenever I think about the motion sickness that knocks me off whenever I engage in trips, I quickly rethink my ideas of travelling to places.

Would I want to go on a solo trip to many places in my country?

Of course, yes! My mind is ever willing for that, but my body is weak. If my body system were composed and maintained throughout the journey, then I would gladly go on the tour. But another big concern that makes me think and contemplate about going on a tour is the level of insecurity in my country. Let me elaborate on the two factors:

Motion sickness:

The last time I went on a very long journey was six years ago, and that was when I travelled to Lagos State from Delta State. Right now, I cannot undergo such a lengthy journey because I would 'die' of motion sickness along the way. Gosh, my body is so unfair that just a 30-minute journey in a car makes my stomach start feeling like I want to vomit (nauseous).

I made enquiries and found out that if motion sickness is something a body system is prone to, even if the person is the one driving, nauseousness will definitely occur. So no, I cannot go on a journey alone with this shaky body system.

Insecurity in Nigeria:

Although people still ply the roads in Nigeria, it is very risky to drive to a lot of places in the country, and it becomes even worse if one is alone. There are kidnappers on the highways looking to make ends meet, as it relates to Nigeria’s economy. A few months ago, the rate of kidnapping along Nigerian highways was so alarming that it halted a lot of people’s journeys. This is because not everyone could afford travelling by air, which is very expensive and was considered the only safe means of travel. I cannot think of travelling alone to some parts of Delta State, not to talk of cruising alone in a car to the dens of kidnappers in the northern states.

But then, there is no way these factors can be completely removed. The first one is possible to manage, but the second one, in a country like Nigeria, seems very impossible, except God decides to wipe off the earth and let a new breed of people from heaven occupy the earth known for Nigeria. Lol
