Panorama Shots of Blue River park in New Caledonia

Super Vista.jpg

I love a good panorama, I play with the settings on the camera and sweep like a maniac as other people wonder what the hell I'm up to.

Here are two panoramas I took in a single afternoon in New Caledonia. The first is in Blue River park which is about a 2 hour drive from Noumea, near Yaté, It's known for its ochre soils, blue-tinted river, and accessible trails. It blends natural beauty with a hint of industrial history, including remnants from early 20th-century logging and mining activity, now reclaimed by native vegetation.

This vista in particular in is part of the drowned forest, which as you can see is dead trees in the lake. the cale of the forested mountains behind it are immense and I the red soil very much reminded me of the Northern Territory of Australia.

The park itself is pretty amazing there are walks all over the place you can take, and the afternoon we spent there was not nearly enough to get a sense of all of it, but what we did see was fairly amazing.

The second vista is of a waterfall/area which is not really a national park or anything, rather it is a place about 35 minute drive from Blue River Park that I had read about, it was one of those places where you are not sure you are heading the right way, and does require you to stop at the side of the road in the middle of nowhere and just walk for 10 minutes, but at the end of that ten minutes you are greeted with this, which is stunning, the mix of red earth, the river flowing over the rocks, the fact that there is not another living soul around and it feel otherworldly.
