#LivingElSalvador. Planting Banana Peels In My Garden.

I was playing in my tiny garden today, transplanting some cucombers and tomatoes. I had few banana peels available, so I decided to plant them in the dirt, where I planted my cucombers.

You can also check my banana peel fertilizer post, right here

I digged a deeper hole, where I threw the banana peel in, covered with some dirt and then transplanted the cucombers in the same hole.

You can also cut the banana pieces into small pieces, so that it dissolves faster and easier, but you can also use full banana peels.

Banana peels are also great for indoor and outdoor gardening, since they are packed with nutrients.

One of those nutrients is potassium, which is essential for more flowers blooming, which means more fruit growing.

Banana peels are also great to keep the pests away.

I only planted the banana peels under the cucombers, ( didn't have too many peels around) but the soil around will absorb all the nutrients to all the veggies planted around it.

I am so limited to my gardening right now, because in our garden are we planted corn.

So I am just trying to plant some seeds around my backyard, along my fence, where the grass is not covering/ growing in that space, yet, but will eventually.

My yard is pretty big, but because of many coconut trees, mango and avocado tree, there is too much shade, and some places, too much water, especially now when it's raining season. But because cucumbers love, love lots of water, I thought I will try planting them right here.

The tomatoes, on the other hand, would not be able to handle all this wetness, so I thought I will try planting them in a empty brick, filled with soil, since I don't have that many planters. I am not sure, if the space is big enough, but I am willing to try, since I can play and grow my garden here in El Salvador all year round, so I don't have to worry about few of my tomatoes not making it, especially since I have some tomatoes planted in planters also.

Behind the tomatoes, I also planted some peas, which I brought the seeds from Canada. I thought the peas and cucombers would be able to climb on the strings, which we would tie to the fence.

I also planted some kohlrabi, some green onions and some yellow mellon.

But again, I planted them around my fence, but not sure if there is enough sun for them, but I think it will be just fine, since there would be too much sun, if we didn't have the shade.

I planted some yellow melon seeds, which I collected in Canada, from these very sweet and very bright yellow melons, so I wasn't sure if they would come out, but they did, and very quickly too.

I was going to transplant hhem from this planter, but again, I really didn't have any room, because of the corn taking over the whole garden, so I thought that I would just leave them in this planter and see if they would grow.

So far, I think they are ok, but not sure if they will make it, but I have so, so many seeds of this melon, that I am willing to lose on some seeds, which I did also plant a few around the fence.

We have also had quite a bit of rain, every night, so I just hope my seeds, especially my kohlrabi seeds didn't drowned in all this rain and hope it will be all fine and if not, I have a lot of time (all year round) to figure out what works and what doesn't.

Hope that you enjoyed my little garden and me playing in it.

Thank you for stopping by, and for your support. It's greatly appreciated.

Here's a way to get some more use out of them; cut up the peels and throw them in jars of water, shaking them every couple of days but leaving the jar otherwise shut for a couple of weeks. Afterwards, strain the solids out and you'll have a solution which has plenty of extra nutrients for plants inside! Just be sure to dilute the solution with a little more water before applying it to your plants. Best of luck with your garden!
