Exactly 14 days ago, I planted 8 garlic cloves in a recycled PVC pipe. I had previously used it for hydroponic planting, but this time I was going to plant them in organic potting mix.

After 3 days, my first garlic seed began to sprout. It happened to be the first hole in the pot. Then, little by little, the next garlic seeds sprouted, no longer in sequential order with the holes but rather at random. The second hole was the last to sprout, but just the same, all of them have sprouted with strong stems.

After a week, all the seeds have germinated. The stems have unfurled into two or three strong leaves. So far, they’re growing well. They’re not in full sun because I’m afraid direct sunlight would burn them. Where they are, the sun shines on them indirectly but very brightly.

Since the leaves are unfurling, I think this is successful growth. They aren’t long-stemmed plants, but rather strong stems with strong leaves. Although the breeze is strong and sways them day after day, they are growing very resilient to the weather.

The cucumber plants are producing lots of flowers. Some have dried up, but many have thick buds at the end of their flowers, leading to their still-slender little cucumbers.

Little by little, they’ve wound their way up the stakes, guided by me. They cling on tightly; their very nature knows they must bear a necessary weight in a short time.

The flowers are bright yellow, large, and withstand the day’s strong breeze. Here, the sun shines directly on them for about four hours a day. There are several slender cucumbers behind some of the flowers.

The squash plant is growing very lushly. This squash formed very close to the walkway. There was a second one that didn’t get pollinated and fell off the plant. This one continues to grow and is becoming very long and vigorous.

A few days ago, I applied homemade organic fertilizer to all my vegetable and fruit plants. I hope this helps them absorb all the nutrients they need from the soil to produce large, succulent fruits.
Here’s a quick update on the plants in my garden.
