Eso fue lo que me pasó anoche en Plaza de Mayo, aquí en Buenos Aires #Argentina. Llegué sin imaginar realmente lo que iba a vivir, sin saber que en cuestión de minutos iba a estar rodeado de miles de personas, en un ambiente que no se explica fácil, pero que se siente desde el primer momento.

Y lo más curioso es que no era solo la cantidad de gente, que ya de por sí impacta, era la energía, la paz, la conexión que se respiraba en el lugar. Algo que no se ve todos los días, algo que te hace detenerte un segundo y decir, aquí está pasando algo distinto. Y ahí fue donde entendí que esa noche no iba a ser una más.

Desde hacía dos semanas yo venía con eso en la cabeza. Apenas salió la publicidad de que el padre Guille venía a la Plaza de Mayo, aquí en Buenos Aires, ya a mí se me erizaba la piel. Yo mismo me decía que tenía que estar allí, que tenía que vivirlo en persona, porque una cosa es verlo por YouTube o por redes sociales y otra muy distinta es sentirlo en vivo. Ya me venía impresionando desde hace tiempo la forma en que él logra servir a Dios a través de la música, algo que para muchos puede sonar raro al principio, porque no todos entienden de entrada cómo un sacerdote puede ser también DJ. Pero justamente ahí está lo especial de todo esto: en esa manera distinta de llegarle a la gente, especialmente a los jóvenes, usando un lenguaje que hoy mueve multitudes sin perder el mensaje de fe. Por eso yo tenía claro que iba a hacer lo imposible por ir, así fuera solo, porque ese evento yo no me lo quería perder por nada del mundo.

Y bueno, por fin llegó el sábado 18 por la noche, el día que tanto estaba esperando. Me fui con Aroon Rafael, el esposo de mi cuñada, y aunque salimos un poco tarde de casa por cuestiones personales, logramos llegar casi cuando el concierto estaba comenzando. Les juro que desde que puse un pie ahí me impresionó todo: la puesta en escena, la intro, el juego de luces, el sonido, la magnitud del ambiente. Era algo de otro nivel. Yo, con 51 años, sentía que estaba viviendo algo completamente nuevo. Me he pasado la vida trabajando, cumpliendo responsabilidades, metido en lo mío, y muchas veces uno va dejando este tipo de experiencias para después, como si nunca fueran a llegar. Pero esta vez sí llegó ese momento, y verme allí, en medio de tanta gente, brincando, saltando, cerrando los ojos y dejándome llevar por la música, fue algo que me marcó. Sentía el furor, la adrenalina a mil, y al mismo tiempo una paz muy difícil de explicar. Era como si todo se mezclara en un solo instante: la emoción, la fe, el asombro y la gratitud de poder estar allí.

Y mientras vivía todo eso, también pensaba en quién era realmente el hombre que estaba sobre esa tarima. El padre Guille, cuyo nombre es Guilherme Peixoto, nació en Guimarães, en Portugal, fue ordenado sacerdote en 1999 y con los años encontró en la música otra forma de evangelizar. Su faceta como DJ empezó a tomar forma después de ese camino sacerdotal, y su proyección internacional creció muchísimo tras su presentación en la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud de Lisboa en 2023, donde se hizo viral por mezclar música electrónica con un mensaje espiritual que conectó con miles de personas. Había gente cantando, llorando de alegría, con los ojos cerrados, levantando sus celulares para guardar un recuerdo de una noche que sabían que no iban a olvidar fácilmente. El padre Guille iba enlazando una música tras otra, con una vibra impresionante, y ese mar de personas respondía con una fuerza hermosa, como si todos estuvieran conectados por algo mucho más grande que un simple concierto. Para mí fue una experiencia profundamente emocionante, porque no se trató solamente de escuchar música, sino de vivir una noche donde la fe, la emoción y la alegría se encontraron en un mismo lugar. Y eso, sinceramente, no se olvida.

Y al final me quedo con algo muy claro. Hay experiencias que uno no puede explicar del todo, pero que se sienten y se quedan guardadas. Lo que viví anoche en la Plaza de Mayo no fue solo un evento, fue un momento que me llenó por dentro, que me recordó que siempre hay formas nuevas de conectar, de creer y de sentir.

Por llegar casi comenzando, me fue imposible tomarme fotos o siquiera una selfie. Era tanta la gente y el espacio tan reducido donde estaba, que lo único que había era lugar para saltar y dejarse llevar por el momento. Apenas pude hacer unas pequeñas grabaciones con el celular, pero la verdad, hay cosas que no necesitan una foto para quedarse contigo.

There were so many people, and the space where I was standing was so tight that the only thing you could do was jump and go with the moment. I barely managed to record a few short clips on my phone, but honestly, there are things that don’t need a picture to stay with you.
