Caminar por las calles de Santiago es encontrarse con sorpresas en cada esquina. Me encantó perderme en las tiendas de recuerdos, viendo desde las clásicas conchas del peregrino hasta las figuras de Meigas que dicen que "haberlas, haylas". Es imposible no detenerse a mirar cada detalle de los escaparates; siempre hay algo que te saca una sonrisa o te hace querer llevarte un pedacito de Galicia a casa.

Walking through the streets of Santiago means stumbling upon surprises around every corner. I loved getting lost in the souvenir shops, browsing everything from classic pilgrim shells to figurines of Meigas—those mysterious witches—who, as the saying goes, “are definitely out there.” It’s impossible not to stop and admire every detail in the shop windows; there’s always something that brings a smile to your face or makes you want to take a little piece of Galicia home with you.

Lo más tierno del paseo fue cruzarnos con tantos peluditos disfrutando del día. Pero sin duda, el que nos robó el corazón fue ese perrito precioso con heterocromía; tenía un ojito de cada color, uno azul y otro marrón, que lo hacían ver como un personaje de cuento. Se quedó ahí tan tranquilo, dejándose querer y recordándonos que la belleza está en lo diferente y lo inesperado.

The sweetest part of the walk was coming across so many furry friends enjoying the day. But without a doubt, the one who stole our hearts was that adorable little dog with heterochromia; he had one eye of each color—one blue and one brown—which made him look like a character from a fairy tale. He just sat there so calmly, letting us pet him and reminding us that beauty lies in what’s different and unexpected.

Entre las risas por las ocurrencias de las tiendas y los encuentros con estos nuevos amigos de cuatro patas, el viaje fue perfecto. Definitivamente, Santiago tiene una personalidad única que te atrapa, ya sea por su historia o por la calidez de quienes habitan sus calles.

Between the laughter at the shops’ quirks and the encounters with these new four-legged friends, the trip was perfect. Santiago definitely has a unique personality that captivates you, whether because of its history or the warmth of the people who inhabit its streets.
