Home growing: Oyster mushroom season | Cultivo casero: Temporada de setas ostra [ENG-ESP]

Freshly harvested oyster mushrooms | Gírgolas recién recolectadas

[ENG]

Today I’d like to share some photos of the oyster mushrooms I grow at home.

They are edible mushrooms – although we mushroom growers tend to say that ‘all mushrooms are edible at least once’ – and are highly sought-after, versatile and easy to cultivate.
I’ve grown different strains that vary in colour, flavour and texture. Temperature conditions also vary slightly if you want to optimise growth.

I’ve managed to grow yellow, pink and grey ones, as well as my all-time favourites: the blue ones. Their bluish hue is most evident when the stems first emerge, but due to various factors they gradually lose their colour until they turn greyish. This doesn’t always happen; for example, the less light they get, the longer they retain their colour.

I find them so beautiful that I can’t help but take photos of them constantly. It’s become a new obsession to add to the list.

I’ll show you the other varieties soon.

When they are young and shy | Cuando son pequeñas y tímidas

[ESP]

This is exactly how my blue ones turned out. When they get kind of long spindly stems they need a bit more airflow and possibly a bit more indirect light. Congrats on the massive one at the end.

Yes, it’s exactly as you say.
Anyway, I cook those stalks too and eat them, hshahha

Thanks for the congratulations and for your message ✨
