Cats in Istanbul

The most beautiful thing I've encountered in Turkey is the love the people have for animals.

The locals, Turks, are very kind and considerate to the cats and dogs of the country.

You'll find food and water bowls available almost everywhere.

Most people try to feed them regularly. Since cats and dogs in Turkey are taken care of so well, they do not fear humans and they are not afraid to approach people.

Cats and dogs here are very comfortable and confident in human presence; they are not intimidated by people when they come close to them.

In Istanbul, cats are truly superior. Istanbul is known for their cats.

If you're a visitor who walks around the streets of Istanbul, you will know that you're walking through their city.

They are the cats of this city and it is obvious because cats roam around this city like kings and queens.

You will see cats sitting on mosque steps, lying on cafe seating, resting on cars in parking lots, and strolling through crowded city streets.

I feel like they're all sitting in their chairs looking like they own the city because they do.

It's great that Istanbul's cats are treated well. People give them food and water; shopkeepers make sure they're treated with respect; students buy them treats from stores; local authorities look out for them; locals make sure there's nothing harmful around them.

I feel happy to see that the cats of Istanbul have their own places, their own routines, their own privileges, and their own dignity.

This is something that gives me happiness to observe when there is so much compassion in the world and so much human decency is displayed towards cats.
