Lazy Sunday

They say life in seaside resort towns starts buzzing at sunrise. But you know, the real art here is doing nothing and doing it masterfully. Or doing it in such a way that it looks like you're busy with something important — say, strolling around with a camera in hand, looking purposeful.
You can spend the entire morning sitting in the shade of an old plane tree, watching patches of sunlight lazily crawl across the pavement. Waiting for the moment when the sun finally becomes so insistent that the sea is the only convincing argument against it.
Or you can take a slow walk through town.
Though even here, there are unwritten rules: the sights drift by as if reluctantly, and boutiques open with the air of doing you a personal favor.
In the morning, no one asks, Can I help you? because everyone knows you're just killing time until lunch.
Speaking of lunch…
Stopping by a restaurant for a late breakfast is a sport in its own right. No crowds, just the staff quietly preparing for the evening rush. You order food not out of hunger, but to give your hands something to do besides holding your camera (or phone).
By the time you sit down, by the time your order arrives, by the time you study the motion of the waves by the pier — an hour has slipped by. And that will be your most productive hour of the entire morning.
This isn't laziness, folks. It's strategic survival in conditions of excessive beauty.
Here, the sea is the main character. Clear, warm, and possessed of angelic patience. It waits for you as faithfully as the sunbed fee collectors, and once you're in, it doesn't want to let you go. Some people roast on the shore, others endlessly practice their dives. Better to simply lie in it and drift until you grow gills.
Then there are the locals. Usually fishing: motionless as rocks, patient as the sea. They know nothing urgent will happen today. Here, the very concept of urgent simply doesn't exist.
And then, just as you finally find your zen, you meet Him. The true Owner of the Town. A Cat with a gaze that contains universal knowledge. It holds everything: where you came from, all your big-city bustle, your futile attempts to capture the moment. He's seen thousands of tourists like you…
And his message appears telepathically in your head: So, got your shot? Look, I just woke up and I'm already wiped out. Alright, bye. Thanks for stopping by.
