A Quiet Tale

Once, at the beginning of winter, in a very, very old village, they discovered a very, very old door, beside which sat a very, very old cat.

And whoever tried to find out what lay behind that old door, the old cat would remain silent and simply look away.

Only one little boy thought to ask not what’s there, but why are you sitting here?

And the old cat said that, of all the doors he knew, this one had always led him into summer.

Since then, the boy would sometimes sit beside him too.

And winter began to feel shorter.
