Our Rainy, Spontaneous Day Trip to Tagaytay Picnic Grove

Last month, our family and my husband’s workmates had planned out a trip to Baguio City. We packed our bags, prepped our sweaters, and were fully ready to brave the zigzag roads all the way up to the Summer Capital of the Philippines. We also contacted our friends there about our planned visit and for possible meet ups.

But nature had other plans. A sudden typhoon rolled in the dates when we were scheduled to travel. Weather forecasts said that heavy rains and possible landslides will be in the areas where we were heading.

Refusing to let the bad weather ruin our group getaway, we decided to go to Tagaytay City instead. If we couldn't get the cold pine-breeze of Baguio, we would chase the ridge views of Tagaytay.

Making the Most of the Typhoon Weather

We headed straight to Picnic Grove, one of the classic places to visit while in the area. My husband's workmates were the first to arrive and they immediately chose a cottage where we can stay while enjoying the view. It was raining when we reached the place. We've agreed that we will bring food to share.

While we were eating our lunch, it rained so hard. We can't see the Taal lake and the other ridge views. Yet it did not stop us from enjoying each other's company. There was a short window when the rain stopped and we were able to take photos of the breathtaking view of Taal Lake. We even had a Tiktok dance. 😁 We also rode a horse for picture taking purposes only. 😁

This trip is not my first time. I've visited the place with my sister and our eldest daughter in 2013. Many things have changed.

Traveling with my husband's workmates turned out to be an absolute blast. Stormy weather can easily put a damper on things, but a cheerful group transforms a rainy backup plan into a memorable adventure. We did not take the eco-trails though. The rain was on and off. After taking photos, we decided to pack up and leave. It was drizzling when we left.

In conclusion, our little detour proved that you don't need perfect weather to have a perfect trip—just the right company. Baguio will always be there for next time, but this rainy day in Tagaytay is one for the books!

Thank you for taking this trip with us.

Until the next adventure!

xoxo,
Met
