Visit and pay respects at Chinese temples in Thailand during Chinese New Year festival.
Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. This week in Thailand is Chinese New Year. Today Thai people of Chinese descent in Thailand will pay respects to their ancestors. I am Thai of Chinese descent too. So I pay respect to my ancestors. And I also took my wife to pay respects to Chinese gods and Immortals at temple. In the district where I currently live, there are many Chinese temples and shrines. But we visited a temple that combined of both Thai (Buddhism) and Chinese temple. This temple is located on a mountain in Mon Pin subdistrict. We traveled on the main road (Highway 107) to Mon Pin subdistrict and then on rural roads within Mon Pin subdistrict to the temple.
The atmosphere of our journey this time.
This temple has two areas. The first area is the section Thai temple. The second area is the section Chinese temple. But today we didn't go to the section Thai temple area. When we arrived at the temple. We immediately went to the second, which was section of the Chinese temple.
This place has architecture similar to the buddha image hall (viharn) or ordination hall (ubosot) of the Thai temples. In front of the entrance staircase of this architectural structure are two dragon statues.
But inside this architecture, there are two statues of the Goddess of Mercy (Guan Yin) as the main sculptures. And there are also buddha images and statues of monks.
Finally the atmosphere in the section of the Chinese temple is a large courtyard. There are statues of Chinese gods and immortals. Additionally, there are two giant statues. We walked around and paid our respects to these statues.
