RE: The more -than-35 hour journey to go on vacation

I was talking to my parents about this and they have the resources to not just fly, but to fly business or even first class but instead they opt to not do so whenever possible. No matter how easy the process can be made by special VIP lanes this doesn't change the fact that traveling in airports is just a hassle and I think that this is because too many people do it. I would like to see high speed trains replace this sort of thing but honestly, if that happened I think the powers that be would find a way to make that a hassle as well.

It's a real shame because it makes me look forward to NOT going anywhere.

I'm with you there. They set the bar so high for even a small level of comfort on planes. It's ridiculous. I am with you on the high speed rail thing. There was a time when they were talking about running Musk's Hyperloop between Chicago, Columbus, and Philly or something like that. You could basically live in Philly and commute to Chicago in less than 2 hours. That would be amazing. The rail system in the US is a joke at least when it comes to commuter traffic. My wife and I took the train from Kalamazoo to Chicago once and while there was plenty of space because it was basically dead, it crawled along so slowly that it took us forever to get there.
