Art in Bangkok at an interesting venue

I don't often leave Vietnam but all of us that work online here as digital nomads we have to leave every now and then in order to get a new visa. For years I have been doing the kind of thing called a "visa run" where you just get on a plane or bus, go to a border, and then come back right away.

This time I decided to spend a few days in Bangkok instead. I don't really love this city because there are in my opinion, way too many people here. There is a lot of stuff as well though and I found some interesting art places in the city center.

I'm a big fan of street art and in Danang we mostly only have a little bit of spray art that is good. This sort of thing is kind of new to me.

The people who did this certainly had permission to do so because it would have taken too long to do under cover of darkness. Is it good? Well, that is up to the person that is looking at it.

I liked this not because I think it is particularly good, I don't think that at all and it was clearly done with brushes and not spray - and just as a personal things I admire that less.

I liked it because it is on the side of a rusted building made of sheet metal and the entire ensemble kind of has an old timey look to it that appeals to me. Does it appeal to you?

Someone with a better understanding of anime than I have would likely immediately know what this is. To me I just liked it because it is big and it stands out. It's also kind of cute. This is on private property so I would imagine that was quite expensive for the owner of the land.

Even the hand washing sinks outside the bathrooms were pretty artsy - which I thought was cool.

as were the bathroom stall themselves

This place is called the ChangChui creative park and it seems to attract artists from all over the place. I'll be getting more pictures as I go along.

It's not really truly and art place for the sake of art, there are a bunch of shops and restaurants there and this is clearly what the mainstay of the place is and that is fine. They gotta pay for the lights and air con from somewhere, right?

You can check the place out if you want at their website, this was where I found out about them. They kind of specialize in reusing old things and turn them into art. That is the theme anyway. There is a giant airplane in the center that has been done up as a work of art and I have no idea why I didn't take a pic of that.

There is actually quite a lot of stuff in Bangkok like this and that is one of the things I like about visiting here. As far as the crazy traffic, the expensive nightlife, and the weed is concerned, well, you can keep all that.

I think I went to something like this not that long ago when visiting there. Was there a bunch of classic cars there as well?

I think the place you are thinking of was the old Railroad place... it had like 100 classic cars there. I don't recall the name of the place but they had a small plane there as well.

Wow, hello! I'm also from Vietnam and I know about the visa run, but never went to Thailand, though my mother did. What a nice place to have appreciate street style art.

there's a great deal of cool art places in Bangkok. They don't have very many good official government museums though.

I know some friends who are doing that but the difference, tourist visa, then look for a job. If not yet hired and visa expires, go teh border.

Same, not fan of anime but yeah, it was something interesting.

almost all of my digital nomad friends do visa runs every 90 days. The teachers who get hired by local schools get work permits and don't have to do visa runs

The drive safely art work looks really good plus it is also providing a useful message. Looks kind of crazy and I am sure it will attract attention, but not for me personally as not into this type of art as it looks more like junk and do not get it.

yeah you are correct. It's called upscaling or something like that and the idea is to use old materials to make something artistic... but lol, yes. It still does look like organized garbage probably because that is what it is
