[ENG/ESP]🌱Avocado plant from seed / Plantita de aguacate desde la semilla🥑

A while ago, I tried growing an avocado plant from a seed. But that time, I only took a photo at the beginning and didn’t document the rest of the process. Although I have the first photo and one from now, so I’ll share those at the end too. This time, I wanted to take the chance to do it again, but documenting the whole process (or almost all of it), not for any special reason, just because I thought it was nice to watch it grow.🌿

[ESP] Hace tiempo había hecho esto de hacer crecer una planta de aguacate desde la semilla. Pero en esa vez solo tomé una foto al principio y luego no documenté nada del proceso, aunque tengo la foto del principio y otra de ahora así que también las compartiré al final, pero quise aprovechar esta oportunidad ya que volví a hacer lo mismo pero esta vez documentando todo el pronceso, o casi todo, así, no por nada especial, solo porque me pareció lindo ir viendo cómo crecía. 🌿

A very nice detail in the first photo is that a ladybug happened to land on it🐞💕

[ESP] Un detalle muy lindo de la primera foto es que justo se posó un coquito, mariquita, vaquita de San Antonio o catarina, depende de cómo le llamen en sus países🐞💕

I started with a clean seed, using the usual method of poking three toothpicks into it and resting it on a glass of water. It stayed there still for several days. At first, nothing happens and you might think it won’t sprout, but after a while, a root started to appear at the bottom. It was small, but you could tell it was alive✨

[ESP] Arranqué con la semilla limpia, la típica técnica de los tres palillos clavados y el vasito con agua. Estuvo ahí quietita varios días. Al principio no pasa nada y piensas que capaz no va a salir, pero después de un tiempo le empezó a salir una raíz abajo. Era chiquita, pero ya se notaba que estaba viva✨

Days passed, and the seed began to split open a little. Inside, you could see that something was growing. I remember watching it for a long time because even though I had seen it before, it still amazed me. The root kept growing strong downward and from the top, a little stem started to poke out ☀️

[ESP] Pasaron algunos días más y la semilla se abrió un poco por la mitad. Adentro ya se veía como que algo estaba creciendo. Me acuerdo que me quedé un rato largo mirándola, porque aunque ya lo había visto antes, igual me sorprendió. La raíz seguía creciendo fuerte hacia abajo, y de arriba empezó a asomar un palito bien finito ☀️

💚Then came the first little leaves🍃. At first, they were tiny, just little tips, but then they started to take shape. By that time, I was pretty attached to the plant, so every little change made me happy!

[ESP] 💚Después vinieron las primeras hojitas🍃. Al principio eran súper chiquitas, como dos puntitas apenas, pero después fueron tomando forma. Para ese momento ya estaba bastante encariñada con la planta, así que cada avance me ponía feliz!

Today, it’s still in water. I haven’t moved it to soil because it seems happy there. It has bigger leaves now and a long stem. I look at it every day without meaning to, and it still amazes me how something so simple as a seed grew into this. I'll transfer it to soil when the time comes🌿

[ESP] Hoy en día todavía está en agua. No la pasé a tierra porque se la ve bien así. Tiene varias hojitas más grandes y un tallo largo. La miro todos los días sin querer y me sigue pareciendo increíble cómo de algo tan simple como una semilla salió esto. Ya la pasaré a tierra cuando toque🌿

🌳And here at the end, I’m going to share two photos of that first avocado plant I mentioned at the beginning: one from when I started germinating it, and another one when it was already quite grown. As a personal story, I want to share that when my mom passed away, she had also planted an avocado tree, and after some time it started to bear fruit. It’s like she keeps giving life even though she’s no longer here...

[ESP] 🌳Y aquí al final voy a dejar dos fotos de aquella primera planta de aguacate que mencioné al principio: una del momento en que la puse a germinar, y otra ya bastante crecida. Como anécdota personal quiero contar que cuando mi mamá murió había dejado plantado un árbol de aguacate también, y al tiempo empezó a dar frutos. Es como si ella siguiera regalando vida aunque ya no esté...
