Construyendo terrarios || Building Terrariums
Hi, I hope you are feeling great!
I notice that more people are cultivating plants, whether as decorations, for enjoyment, and/or as ingredients for salads. Also, in the virtual world (just like now), you can learn about different topics, such as terrariums. So, as soon as I saw the announcement for this workshop, I signed up. Let's see how it went!.
Going to workshops is one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon on a weekend even better if it’s about plants. When I attend an event, I like to arrive on time. However, this time the workshop started an hour later than scheduled.
One of the advantages of arriving early or on time is that you can choose the materials; in this case, they were succulents and cacti. We each got 3 plants per table. There were so many little plants that I kept the ones that were on my table.
In addition, there were tools such as: a long, wide mini shovel and a mini rake. Gloves, special growing media, colored pebbles, and a souvenir bag. Inside the bag there was an apron and a pin. I'm using the apron for cooking, jaja.
To set up the terrarium, we used a glass container (similar to a fish tank). Next, we added gravel (a type of whitish stone), then prepared soil, and finally the young plants.
Since I got Cactus, I used the gloves. I remember taking the cactus out several times because it wouldn't fit. The idea was to place it inside the container in other words, it had to fit inside completely. I liked that because it would be much safer that way when I transported it. Finally, I decorated it with little stones.
Some of them did manage to place their three little plants inside the terrarium. This was because they were assigned smaller plants and/or glass containers shaped like cups (which were the largest ones).
The workshop instructor told us to water the terrarium when we got home, and that's exactly what I did. He also told us that they should be watered once a week and can be placed in direct sunlight. Now, I’m thinking of giving them a theme… I’ll see what I can come up with. This is the first time I've had a terrarium. And I'm so excited to know that they'll grow and I'll be able to move them to a new home.

Veo que hay mas gente cultivando plantas, ya sea como decorativa o para hacerle compañía y/o como alimentos para las ensaladas. Además, en el mundo virtual (como ahora) se aprende de distintas temáticas como los Terrarios. Así que, ni bien ví la convocatoria de este taller, me apunté. ¡Veámos cómo fue!.

Asistir a talleres es una de mis mejores opciones para pasar la tarde un fin de semana, mejor aún si se trata de plantas. Cuando asisto a algún evento, me gusta llegar puntual. Aunque, esta vez el taller inició 1 hora después del horario acordado.
Una de las ventajas de llegar temprano o puntual es que puedes elegir los materiales, en este caso se trató de plantas suculentas y cactus. A cada uno nos tocó 3 plantas por mesa. Eran tantas plantitas que me quedé con los que estaban en mi mesa.
Además, habían herramientas como: Mini palitas larga y ancha, y un mini rastrillo. Guantes, sustratos especiales, piedrecillas de colores y un bolso de recuerdo. Dentro del bolso había un mandil y un pin. El mandil lo estoy usando para cocinar, jaja.
Para armar el Terrario, utilizamos un recipiente de vidrio (similar a una pecera). Luego, le pusimos grava (especie de piedra blanquecina), luego tierra preparada y por último las plantitas.
Como me tocó Cactus, utilicé los guantes. Recuerdo que saqué el cactus varias veces, porque no entraba. La idea era colocarlo dentro del recipiente, ese decir tenía que entrar en su totalidad. Eso me agradó porque al momento de llevarlo estaría mucho mas seguro así. Para finalizar, lo decoré con piedritas.
Algunos sí lograron colocar sus 3 plantitas dentro del terrario. Esto fue porque les tocó plantas más pequeñas y/o recipientes de vidrio en forma de copa (eran los de mayor tamaño).
El tallerista nos dijo que cuando lleguemos a casa reguemos el terrario, y eso fue lo que hice. También nos dijo que el riego es semanal y pueden estar expuestas al sol. Ahora, se me ocurre ponerle una temática… Veré que se me ocurre. Es la primera vez que tengo un terrario. Y me emociona saber que luego crecerán y los trasplantaré a otro lugar.
