Greetings, friends who love nature in all its forms—in this case, everything related to vegetation, plants, flowers, gardens, and crops.
This is actually my first time in this community, which I really like because it pays such a beautiful tribute to nature—specifically, to plants.
We don’t have a garden at my house, but that doesn’t mean we can’t visit others and admire what they have, like at the farm where my grandmother lives. In Venezuela, a “fundo” is like a countryside in other places—a place with many fruit trees and ornamental flowers, such as this beautiful lily.
The lily is like an exotic flower to me because of its unique nature—it’s not like the others. It comes in various colors: white, lilac, leopard-print, Japanese, and Virgin Mary lilies—those are the ones I’ve found, and there are more.
The one in the photos is the orange lily; they say they are native to Europe and Asia. Its petals are elongated, and its scent is most noticeable at night. The center is yellow and has six stamens, or what we also call pistils.
It has a trumpet shape; the flower grows from a bulb that forms at the tip of the elongated stem. It stands out for its height among other plants; this one didn’t grow very tall, but I’ve seen other, taller lilies.
It’s said to bloom in the spring—like most flowers—and in the summer. It has many meanings: rebirth, purity, motherhood, and love. Orange lilies are ideal gifts to lift the spirits of others or even yourself.
There is a wealth of information about this flower—you just have to look—and you’ll be surprised to discover that it’s not just a beautiful flower, but also a source of so much knowledge and learning.
