Good day dear mates! During this quiet garden winter period in my country came time to prepare to upcoming season and of course it's time to think about seeds of plants which I'd like to plant. First of all before buying seeds I prefer to prepare a short list of plants which I'd like to plant in upcoming season. In this year it'll be really a short list coz I decided to focus at this time not only at single-year plants like tomatoes or cucumbers but also on trees and bushes but about them in other time.
So as I wrote earlier I prepared short list of plants which I'd like to plant. Among them as I mentioned before different varieties of tomatoes and cucumbers, carrot, radish, spicy herbs and even corn. Of course I don't want to boring you announcing all of them. More attention I want to pay on how different companies and farmers pack their seeds for sale.

As you can see all seeds from different companies packed in colorful envelopes and this their similarity. On the backside you can find instructions when and how to plant seeds. If we look inside them we can find how they can be differ from each other. For example I suggest you to compare seeds of mint and lemon balm seeds. Here we see that inside envelops with mint seeds packed in small plastic containers which should protect them from humidity and other outside factors.

Against it seeds of lemon balm are packed just in envelops and manufacturer decided that this would be enough. Of course considering how seeds can be small it's more convenient to work with seeds in granule form like mint seeds. But on the other side we don't know what was added as ingredients for this granules besides seeds itself. Additionally you can see how seeds of tarragon have been packed in additional paper envelop to protect them.
Also in addition to commercially packaged seeds, I often pay attention to seeds from private farmers. I believe they deserve attention because they sometimes offer seeds of rare plants, endemic plants, or plants that commercial producers consider unprofitable to sell. And by the way this seeds can cost not so much as commercially packed seeds.
When buying seeds from private producers, I noticed that they are also trying to keep up, and the packaging of their seeds let's say so is also evolving. Previously, seeds could be packaged in a simple paper envelope or bag. Now they can be packaged in a ziplock bag, beautifully labeled, and contain either a minimum amount of seeds or the amount I need. For example I'd like to provide you this photo where you can see difference between seeds from private farmers.

So as a conclusion I'd like to say that from seeds depends big part of harvest in upcoming gardening season that's why we should pay attention not only where and from whom we buy seeds but also the condition of the seeds. To see if they are undamaged and how were prepared for planting. That's all for now. Stay tuned! Yours @travoved
