I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride when I walked into my mom's garden yesterday. I went to visit just for that day because she called and said she's been in the weather for days. So, despite my busy schedule of having a lot to read for as I have a paper to write tomorrow, I squeezed out time to see her.
We've been experiencing constant rainfall lately and it's evident in the lush greenery of the garden. Those plants really needed as much water from the rain as they could get because I don't think my mom is that prompt at watering plants.
Enveloped in serenity and wonder, I took a little tour around. The sun was setting and mosquitoes were out in their numbers ready to feast on whoever was unlucky to stick around the garden. This made my wanderings quick to avoid getting bitten many times. Treating malaria has become very expensive.

I honestly admired how the plants were glowing in the sunlight and this snail I saw feasting on one of the plants took my breath away.

I think it posed too for a quick shot because it would have shied away by hiding in its shell when I approached it.

I was in awe to see the melons, they were once tiny seedlings but has grown into robust delights.

The African pumpkin leaves too with its deep green color and lovely leaf pattern looked really nice except that some caterpillars are feeding well on them.

I didn't get to meet any but from the rips on the leaves one can tell it's nothing but the handwork of caterpillars.

The true showstopper was the guava tree. I know how hard I fought to have it standing in the position it is today.

My mom once wanted to cut it down after calling it a barren tree but I pleaded she gave it another year and now, we've got some babies. According to her, she's eaten one already. I was filled with so much pride knowing that it didn't disappoint me and also glad it was given another chance to prove itself. Hehehe.

I wasn't just pleased with the look of the garden, I also felt this connection to the natural world. The moist soil and its earthy scent, the gentle chirp of birds as they retired to their nests in the palm trees close to the garden and the soft rustle of leaves as the wind blew all combined to create a sense of peace and tranquility. It's been months of being away from the countryside. We mostly don't have lush gardens like this in the city, just towering trees, some hibiscus flowers here and there, etc.
Thanks for reading this far. Love you.π
