RE: Busy Day Planting Seedlings Before the Heatwave - by Sunscape

Good to know about the grow bags. I will put one in that way and I have places in the corners of the raised beds where I can put the rest. The vines can cascade that way, too. I tried eating the young, smaller leaves and used them like spinach, they were nice to eat and packed with nutrition, apparently. I bought mine from Territorial Seed Company out of Oregon, called Purple Majesty. Next year, I will find a closer grower so the vines don't stress so much. They are recovering a little each day.

Fedco is in Maine, and some of my slips have no live leaves at all. None. Lots of blackened ones, and a note that says that is no problem.I don't think shipping is necessarily the problem.

I didn't know you could eat the leaves, I'll try that this year.
