Prepping Gardens - Fairy Lights - Keto Lunch - by Sunscape

It was a busy day in the yard, prepping the raised beds, topping them with a fine layer of three-year-old horse manure. I lightly turned it into the soil and removed plenty of leaves from around the various beds.

Mika was supervising the job, of course, and finding little sticks to chew on.

The vegetable garden area is ready for planting as soon as the weather cooperates. I'm moving seedling trays out into the greenhouse this Sunday. We are supposed to have nighttime temperatures staying above freezing for the next 10 days. Anything that can handle the cooler temps, like cabbage, cauliflower, onions, lettuce, kale, and spinach, will be the first to go out.

It is supposed to rain for the next 4 days, so today I will add a few nutrients into the soil to let it break down before this bed gets planted. I will cover the hoops with heavy plastic to protect the seedlings until they are established. This has worked perfectly over many years and allows me an earlier planting time for the cold-loving plants.

I assembled the solar-powered moon fairy and placed her next to the pond.

She is so pretty lit up at night, and check out the little green orb.

I think the fairies were already checking out the new addition and flying around her light.

On the South side of the house, along the walkway, I put the fairy stake lights out. They have various modes that can stay stable or twinkle at different speeds. I was quite impressed at how bright they lit up, and I may just order another set.

It was late afternoon by the time we finished with the gardens for the day, and I was starving. So, I prepared a nice salad for a late lunch, sticking to my diet plans.

I'm hopeful that with the extra exercise from gardening, I will be burning up calories, and that should help drop off a few more pounds. There are only two smaller gardens to clean out this week, and they will all be ready for spring planting. Looking forward to another year of beautiful flowers and a bountiful crop.

And so it starts... Like your solar fairy! And envy your greenhouse... sigh...

I'm ready to fill up the greenhouse, two more days, then they're out there. I love having the greenhouse but by June it gets too hot inside. So it really gets used a short time.

The cold frames are the same, from mid to late April until end of June, if I can get everything planted...
