Mid-week Garden Update- Flowers Galore - by Sunscape

We have had some rainy days, once again. I took the netting off for the day since there would be no cabbage moths flying about. The cabbage bed has gotten very crowded. I need to go out and trim off some of the kale today since the cabbage leaves are getting so wide.

I have buds on the Habanero Pepper plants and on all of the different pepper varieties. I spent a morning trimming the lower leaves of the plants and staking the sweet peppers for support.

The zucchini plants got a trimming, too. I cut off all the lower leaves to expose the stems that are forming fruit.

The plants surrounding the back porch are filling in nicely and offering a lot of color to enjoy.

The petunia seeds that I purchased are blooming profusely. Every single flower has a different pattern and coloring, making the hanging basket very pleasing to the eye.

I'm wondering if I save some of the seeds from different flowers, if they would come true for next season. Hopefully, I can save some by the end of summer and give it a go for next year.

The clematis growing up one of the trellises had a lot of flowers this year, the first time it has ever looked full.

The Mandavilla vine is starting to climb the frame and has had three flowers to date.

Last summer, I tossed Larkspur seeds throughout the butterfly garden, and they have self-sown this year and are starting to flower. All the lobelias I grew from seed are filling in all the hanging baskets and containers beautifully.

Another favorite annual that I start from seed is this purple verbena. It does well for most of the summer, and I just love this shade of red in the gardenscape.

By the pond, one grouping of Asiatic lilies has survived the beetles. I used to have a lot of them along with Oriental lilies, but the beetles did a number on them every year.

I made this little fountain/bath hoping the hummingbirds would use it. However, I've been seeing honeybees coming to it to drink. How sweet is that?

Speaking of the pond, I have a pair of frogs inhabiting it this year. I lost a few over the winter and only have two now.

Snapdragons started flowering this week, next to the porch, but those in the shade garden are just setting buds.

Calendula self-seeded on the far side of the garden, which is nice because I forgot to grow some this spring, lol.

Out in the front of the house, on the south side, the border zinnia are beginning to get some color.

The Tradescancia is in its full glory. This is the largest it has grown and is just loaded with pretty flowers.

Lastly, the Wisteria vine put on a beautiful display this week. That is one vine I wish would flower all summer long.
