Blooms Everywhere! Garden Journal Update - by Sunscape

I certainly love spring flowers, but Oh My! Summer blossoms are just so delightful to the eye.

The butterfly garden is bursting with color from so many of the perennial and annual flowers.

I am finally spotting some Monarch butterflies in this garden, and a few yellow Swallowtails, too. There must be enough seeds from the spring flowers that now the yellow Goldfinches are starting to peck at some of the plants. They do feast on the seeds all summer long.

These are just a few of the Zinnias that are blooming. I have so many different ones throughout various gardens. One of these mornings I will go out and get some more photos.

The last of the Clematis flowers and the Foxglove are almost done. The Monkshood has just opened this week. I only see two plants have survived the winter, the purple ones didn't.

The Larkspur that had self-sowed from last summer are still blooming strong. I can't get over how lovely they look scattered naturally throughout the gardens.

Of course, this is the month that all the Daylilies flourish, and I have six different ones here and there. I only had pictures of these three at the moment.

The huge Hydrangea bush in the vegetable garden is in full bloom. It must like the semi-acidic soil, as the flowers are all different shades. I need to take a full pix of the entire bush to give you an idea how large it is.

I still have a few Poppies blooming, and the Cosmos is starting to flower, but sparsely. I don't think the plants liked being transplanted so next year I will just scattered some seeds when the weather warms up.

The Monarda/Bee Balm has been overrun by the Larkspur, but I can still see some of the flowers from the back porch. The plant is only 2.5' tall and the Larkspur about 4'.

Speaking of the porch, the Impatiens are filling in amongst all the ferns and Hosta's.

The pond garden is so full of plants adding a lot of color.

We had to drain the pond three times due to the hot temps which made Algae bloom terribly. This week it finally balanced and seems to be staying clear now.

The frogs are easier to see, and I saw a tiny one this week for the first time. Now, there is a whole family to enjoy this year.

We had three days of torrential downpours that flooded the patio and pond.

It came down so hard all day long, that the lawn was soaking wet for days. The gutters couldn't even handle the rain and it poured off the house.

The rain chains got a workout, but I captured some cool photo's while it was coming down.

It was a long, busy week having my niece here from South Dakota. I have not sat that much on my butt chatting since she was here last summer. I'm a bit stiff and far behind on my postings, lol. I hope to get caught up soon.
